Srt Spanked...

Actually the SRT-4's insurance rate is only seen as an R/T. I'm 24, and it's surprisingly low for full coverage. I only pay $160/mo for full coverage on my SRT-4 and liability on my 93 Saturn SC2.

And yeah, I just checked that thread...thanks for the heads-up!

You Never Know. The 2000 Maxima's were the Fastest maxima's until 2003.

I know that the 2003 Maxima's can hit 0-60 in 6.0flat and turn's the 1/4mile in 14.5@97mph. The 2000's aren't too far off from the 2003's. Also Maybe it had some stuff done to it.

You got a link to back that up with?

Never understood why people think that the SRT-4 doesn't handle well...because it does...look it up.

yea...SRT-4 vs. MSP...on a track..MSP will womp it..

I REALLY doubt that. They handle about the same, and the SRT-4 is MUCH faster. But, if you can prove me wrong, post some links!

I do like the SRT..BUT I would much rather have a new trans-am..there is NO replacment for displacement....PERIOD

They stopped making Trans Ams last year. And they handle like crap.

PS-The replacement for displacement is called GOOD ENGINE DESIGN!

:D

Car and driver listed the 2000 maxima 0-60 manual 6.7 sec.. the new 2003 did it in 6.2. Mine is an auto.. so I know mine is much slower. The newest max is way heavy, and I have yet to see the figures on it as its ugly looks make me ignore it period. The srt4 should be able to kill the max, unless like you all said there was some serious modding. Which is possible, as being a maxima.org forum member as well, they get crazy with modding, as much as this forum does. so yeah it is possible. Still I would like to have known what the max your frien went up against had done to it.
The wife actually wants to check the srt4 out, so we have a scheduled test drive tommorow... or look-see in any case..

Stock twisties...the MP3/MSP wins hands down.

But based on tests I've read...the MP3/MSP only MARGINALLY outhandles the SRT-4.

I am seriously considering getting rid of the MP3 and getting an SRT-4. In fact I'm going to go test drive the one here after work

Crayz_d did a nice write up in this thread for all you "this car is faster, that car handles better people".
http://www.mazdamp3.com/vbb225/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17448&highlight=neon+srt+track

And neon's are fugly. Sorry but thats my personnal opinion. You can always put a sick turbo in any car, Mazda didn't because they are wusses. ( HiBoost makes a real nice turbo for the 2.0, Mazda should learn from them ) But then again, we'll see in 2-3 years how many SRT's start breaking. After all didn't they change the Neon name because of all the bad publicity the car got over the years?

I will say this...the front end of a MSP is what sold me on it. The only thing that I'm not digging too much is the rear end and the spoiler on the 03s. I like the 03.5's spoilers better.

Considering the low APRs these days and if you can afford the mark up then it maybe a good idea. The other option is a MSP which has the suspension but a list of issues longer then my *@%! or you can turbo the MP3 and you will have the suspension and a car that is faster then the MSP although not faster then dodge.

Do what makes you happy bro (thumb)

If I had the money, I'd get the srt4 as a 2nd car. But I would never replace the speed with it. I think it would make an excellent project car, but not something I would drive everyday. Cad has shitloads of potential. I really wanted to see one before getting the speed, but of course Canadians got screwed again, and we don 't have them yet.

PS. I love the silver. Sharp.

That yellow wings west thing is fugly though.

A real 'Rock 'n Roll' 3rd car...... Beck 550 Spyder

Performance

Standing start: 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds

Quarter mile: 13.6 secs. @ 92mph/148 kph

Maximum speed: 130 mph (209 km) with std. 1915cc 125 bhp engine and std. gearbox/axle ratios.

....and not everybody and their neighbor has one!! (under $25,000)

SRT-4 stage 2

QwikSRT4, there is a stage 2 kit out already for the srt4. It comes with:
TDo5H turbo up grade
new intake manifold
up graded ECM with fuel injectors
3.0 bar map sensor, tip sensor
high-flow fuel pump
and allot more goodies

This all produces around 270hp/280lb-ft.

Oh, and by the way....the Dodge dealerships out here in the west have got these kits ready to go in their mopar speed shops.

As for the owner of the srt being a snot nosed punk.....nope. He`s a MasterSergeant in the airforce and been racing cars since he was a little s***.

As for the "chip" that he was talking about....I don`t know.

If you have any further doubts, check out the june 2003 issue of HCI. It has all the info that you`ll need.

If you had any idea how friggin' clueless the Dodge dealerships are about the SRT-4, you would know the internet and especially internet forums specific to your car will always know more than a dealership will on a specialty car.

I knew more about the SRT-4 way before the Dodge dealerships here in town even knew what the hell an SRT-4 was. So I don't ask for any information from the dealer anymore. All my info comes from sources online.
