Soo I may be getting rid of the P5

I have always like Volvo's in fact I was looking at an S40 when I bought the
P5. I went with the Mazda because I liked the looks, and it was cheaper. Now I have the opportunity to trade it to an S40 with about 10K more miles on it. I drove the car and like it, I am just unsure... Anyone got any input?

Not with the volvo, but I'm pretty sick of Mazda! :D I'd get rid of mine if I could without losing a ton of money on it.

My dad has an S40 ... that thing rocks! It's an automatic, turbo ... loaded with options - and it's just one heck of a nice car. Very solid, very comfortable.

I don't think I could get rid of my p5.. I still have a lot of fun with him :)

I am actually sick of shifting gears.. so the idea of an auto I like... the more mileage and the outside condition of the car not as nice as the P5.. but it is a "nicer" car... more options, quieter etc.. guess I have some contemplating to do..

Meh, my P5 is like an annoying hot chick. Fun to toss around for awhile, but the upkeep is just too much and all the little annoyances make you want to kill.

I like my Country Squire, waaay faster than the protege, more comfy, handles incredibly, an automatic trans, and the cops don't pay much attention to it.

Volvo. Wuss. Dork. Nerd.
(Harsh!)
Maybe just 'soccer mom'...

Just the random thoughts off the top of my head! *(you did ask for opinions...)

My next car will be a 350Z (silver with manual). Sweeeeet.

yeah id looked at an s40 too when car shopping but ended up going with the p5, from what ive heard its a pretty good car but remember any repairs will probably be a lot more than something like mazda or honda

Thanks for the input all..

As far as a soccer mom thing.. hey I got a kid so no 2 seaters for me.. (besides thats what the Ducati is for..)

The volvo is a 2001 its red (not my favorite color) I want to get into an Evo or a Mustang but it is a few years out.. We bought a new house and just finished remodeling so we got some bills to pay off and I still have to pay off my Bike.. No more car payments until everything but the house is paid for...

Dude, you might be able to afford the car, but the servicing and parts is another issue. I would look at the cost of servicing and maintenance over 5-10 years. I think KBB has this feature. Personally, i'd wait until my bills were paid off, then I'd get the better car.

Otherwise, yes, bitchin car. I would like to replace my Ford Exploder with the Volvo XC90

the volvo is a nice car but has absolutely zero rear leg room. There is absolutely no way i can fit in the back of that car.

Again thanks for the input.
As far as service I have been looking at the cost of parts, I do my own work. The leg room is a concern, not that the P5 is over abundant...

MY car is paid for as is the Volvo it would be an even trade that is why I was considering it.. otherwise I am not doing anything for the next 2 years when my bike is paid for.. both cars are low mileage (mine and the Mrs.. ). I am going to do a KBB thing because the main motivation was getting more car for the same money.. trade my car up and not be out anything.. I have been researching at the S40 site as well. Seems like parts are in deed higher, but if I am getting rid of it before the scheduled maintenance it should be a wash on costs... you never know what is going to break, but I know Mazda's bottom ends do not impress me at all. Both cars have plusses and minusses.. again I appreciate everything everyone has said.

im considering trading mine in about a year or so, getting an s2k. Volvo's are nice, but..ya really expensive, parts are the one reason i didnt get a bmw.

sad to hear that you might be trading the p5. im just one of those people that absolutely loves my car, and wont be getting a new car until it is paid off because i plan on keeping it as long as i can (also becuase those darn performance parts burn a hole in the wallet, you know how it is)

the next car for me will hopefully be an acura tl. just really love those cars. but volvos are (from what i hear) fantastic cars. good luck on the decision

If you buy an S40 you won't be straying that far from mazda anyway. The S40 uses the mazda3/focus chassis and suspension.

Well I am going to try to get the car this weekend and let my wife check it out, and try to put my son in there... I checked KBB adn its 600$ less than my car... hmmm..
