So what problems have you experienced so far?

And OK I'll rise to the bait...

I have had ZERO problems in 4,000 miles of driving my car. Paint is still chip free, engine runs great, interior is comfortable and well built and I enjoy every minute of driving the P5.

my main problem is the onslaught of onlookers at my car, especially when I first got it a little over a year ago..heads turn wherever..especially from the rice rocket boys...lol :D

Just little things really,

Bad rear brakes, unfortunately. Caliper was sticking so I needed new pads and needed to have the rotors turned to take the scoring out, plus the weather stripping is coming off the drivers door. Other than that it's been a gem for 28,000kms.

aside from a few small rock chips on the hood and a suspisious scratch on the rear bumper after a trip to the dealer, I've had 6000 miles with no problems. I did get a kick though when I parked next to a tricked out civic and had the driver take a very curious double-take at my baby

Did 850 miles in the first week. Zero problems. Of course a new car is supposed to be trouble free, but the initial build quality is very impressive as well.

I have to agree. Thank God my windows are tinted so people can't really see me. I feel like I'm on display.

Ohhhhh! Ahhhhh!

L:eek: :eek:k at the shiny new car!
I wish my car l:eek::eek:ked like that.
I wish my car handled like that.

Hi, Mazda B(k)y! How about a ride around town? (<---- from the ladies!)

P5 Problems

Hey,

i don't think he's trying to turn this board into a b**** session. i think it is really helpful when people post their problems with the car. i know that i've been seriously shopping around looking at the P5, the VW jetta, and the nissan sentra spec V. I have been religiously reading this site, vwvortex.com, myvwlemon.com, and freshalloy.com(the nissan site) and have gained valuable knowledge from other peoples experiences. And i'm glad to say that while everyone on the vw site talks about how much they love their cars, there are constant complaints about window regulators breaking and the windows falling into the doors, doors leaking green goop when it gets hot outside, dealer problems, lemon law problems, squeeks, rattles, and other stuff that breaks on their new cars (within the first 1000 miles of ownership)! Nissans seem to be a lot better on the reliability, but still people complain there about blown engines and paint problems!?!? So i think it is VERY important that if this is an enthusiast site, everone keeps each other informed of the good and the bad.....not just always showing of their new wheel sets (although the guy with the 5 spoke 19's has a bad ass ride!) .. So what i'm VERY glad to see here on this site is that there are a LOT fewer complaints about any problems with the P5 at all! ...except a couple of wind noise issues, but hey, that sure beats window regulator failure, massive dashboard squeeks, etc

keep the info rollin,

p.s. does anyone have any pics of a P5 with Arospeed RS-11 17 x 7's ?!?! (or a photoshopped pic?)

Kick panel in the passenger foot area has come off (around the heater duct). Dealer ordered some new clips and will replace with my next oil change.

Other than that - no problems at all.

Only one problem in 13 months of ownership - driver side window became disengaged from track so it would not raise or lower. Took it for warranty repair.

REAL problem is finding the money to spend on aftermarket goodies.

Aside from a complete jerk that opened his car door into mine (did not leave a visit card of course), a stone the size of a golf ball that destroyed my lower front grill and the right front wheel that got stuck in 1" gravel and totally ruined the finish, I've had only one little thing that came up the moment I left the dealer : a noise from underneath the glove compartment. It took me a while to find what it was : wires wraped together on the lower left side of the glove compartment that rubbed together. I just pushed on them and the noise disapeared.

I've had the car for 5 months now and this is the best I've owned (1 used and 4 brand new). So happy about it 4 of my friends bought one too.

the P5 is great....I'm just really annoyed by the fact that I've only owned my car for 10 mo and my whole front fascia & hood look like they've been sandblasted...paint quality is really poor...and road noise is another big issue(but thats easily fixed with the radio volume):D

Oak Harbor, WA? I used to go screaming through their in my '00 ES when I lived in Coupeville last year! I only had one problem with the car: apparently the air conditioning drain wasn't properly bent/aimed towards the ground, so water was backing up and leaking into the passenger compartment from the floor vents. Worked out that I had to have my oil changed then anyway, just a slightly longer visit to the shop, they fixed the problem, shampooed and deodorized my mats and the floor just in case any funk was starting to grow. My car has been perfect since. That's what warranties are for.

Why would you start a thread like this?

Why turn the board into a b**** session?

I'm not trying to turn this board into a "b****" session as you call it. I just want to know what kind of problems might arise if i decide to get a P5.

I'm considering a Honda Civic LX Coupe or Protege 5.
Honda seems super reliable, but i'm not crazy about the styling or the performance.

As for the Nissan Sentra Se-R Spec-V? My dad just got one. Fantastic car.

Oh yeah, one more thing, people complaining about the road noise.. i've read in some reviews that the P5 was known for being super quiet, even at speeds of 90mph+... were they wrong or somethign? hehe
