So Very New!!!

:
2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself and say whats up. I am obvioulsy new to this site but am extremely happy to see finally there's a place were I can get some tech info on my car. I hope I can find my place here with everyone else....

Also what's up with this so called clunk??? I'm really worried about this and am going to be extremely pissed when it happens if it does. I only have about 700miles on my car so when should I expect to be bitching about my Mazda Dealer???

Welcome to the board! As far as the clunk goes, not every MSP gets it. It seems to be a luck of the draw type of thing(well, bad luck I guess)...Anyways, I've got 8,300+ miles on my MSP and I do not have the infamous clunk. Those who do seem to hear it very early. If you get it, it'll be soon...Also, be sure to check the MSP forum thread about your production number.:)

Welcome to the board....and because you own a MSP

(nuts) BASTARD!!

Ah, well once again, welcome. Make yourself at home...everyone is nice here and yes you can get awsome techie advice on your car here! This is the place!

Welcome to the board. If you have the clunk, you should be hearing it very soon. I don't 'think' I have the clunk -- instead I just have "clicks" and "creaks." Trust me, the clunk is nothing to complain about compared to the damn hesitation. THAT you will be complaining about and complaining about very soon.

congrats on the car. good color choice.

on the clunk - i thought it's happening when it's cold. wait till you get some snow and then hear it.

you won't get it in wormer climates like sac town.

It seems like location does play a part in it... In case he does get it(he lives in IL), didn't someone find some aftermarket bushings in Summit magazine that relieved the problem??

sup newb.....(wedge) ........welcome aboard.....yeah the msp is aight.....anyways there is alot of good info on here....

Can I just complain about it now... Basically yes it sucks, makes the car act very jerky sometimes. I was reading on here that there are some fixes and the such. What"s the best road to take to smooth it ou???

summit racings bushings have also failed. They last longer, but eventually fail as well.

The clunk is actually more related to whether or not the car is wet. When wet, it's worse, the bushings/bar slip.

anyways, do a search in the mp3 section, there's only 4000 posts on it.

Welcome aboard though....hey...nice car :)

Welcome to our family forum. I have no clunk and I am at 4000+ miles. Enjoy youself and I hope you fine helpful info here.

Ha! If I had the answer to that question I'd be treated like GOD around here! There is no fix (by Mazda at least) and probably never will be. 1 guy around here supposedly has his own ECU fix for $700 ... can't remember his name off hand.

No I was talking more about like the FP reducer kit, and things like that. Is that a good Idea, does it work???

Welcome to the forum..
btw, in your pic it looks like you are taking up part of that handicap spot...(no)

j/k :)

on the clunk, check the locations of the guys without the problem...most CA and FL; lucky bastads...you'll get it when it gets cold. so enjoy the summer :) get a good repore going with your service manager and you should be fine. just swap them out for new bushings at every oil change...
