the "sock" is from the fuel tank to the engine its intergrated into the engine and tank and should not be replaced it can but its not a good idea pretty much it works like a filter but better and the best way to clean it is to flush ur fuel system but if there are heavy deposits in it then u might have to clean it a few times to get it cleanFLSilverP5 said:Shell is one of the worsts gas there is. My friend always put 93 shell V-power crap in his benz, and the gas guage kept breaking. They said dont use shell cuz its so crappy. Expensive too. And chevron is not the best. Definetly Mobile. In synthetic oil and gasoline.
I was also wondering about the lack of fuel filter in our cars. I went to Auto Zone and the guy said they dont have gas filters, but he said it doesnt mean i dont have to change it they just dont have it. can u explain this sock concept to us idiots? thx

High altitude reduces the demand for octane.
could someone explain that to me plz... cuz when i was in newmexico the highest octane they had was like 90 and i never knew y.
SkinnyJoint said:perfect since thank you. but a quick question so would a higher octane just be to the point of useless period in higher altitude
the only place that i have found a full fuel flush for the 5 is at the dealership but granted i really havent looked that hard for it its bout 150 bucks and it cleans ur sock, pump, injectors, limes everything i had to do it twice and my system was nastyFLSilverP5 said:how do you flush it?
At a high level, the octane talks to the ease of igniting. Our engines are designed to work best with 87 Octane. Different ease of igniting is not necessarily a good thing.SkinnyJoint said:what 87 is not all u need... its not about power or nething a premium gas is going to burn better period which will increase life in certain parts as well as keep cleaner
i have reset my ECU many times to try and solve the problem first......pedrump said:maybe reset the ecu? my old legend was once hesitating, and i reset the ecu and it was fine afterwards.
ZoomFive said:Just do a tune up. Change your plugs, wires, oil, tranny fluid, oil filter, air filter, pcv valve, and fuel filter. Check belts, stuck calipers, vacuum hoses, alignment, and tire pressure.
While you are at it, having nothing to do with acceleration, flush your coolantt.
