Does anyone have the OEM sill plates for the 2014 CX5? If so, are they made from heavy gauge SS so they won't dent with normal use. How much did you pay for them? Thank you.. Ed

IDK how heavy duty they are, https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned)
That is what I installed on my 2015 cx-5, they have worked out great so far, add a nice touch, visually, and have held up well since July. They do protect that area of the door pretty well and have not dented, not sure how you would.

Application is very easy comes with a guide and alcohol pads to clean the area.

I have those and like 'em.

I have them. They do not dent. They do scratch a little bit from your foot hitting it on the way in and out, but not too badly. Don't bother with the templates they include for mounting as they end up putting the plates too far from the outside edge of the sill. Just go by eye and put them very close (but not right on) the outside edge of the sill. I paid $97.50 for mine. Very happy with them.

I also have them. Look nice. Easy to put on. Rear ones are not very big, though. I agree with the "no templates" comment. OEM, Paid $108.33. Last weekend I had a comment from a friend that said "looks nice, but". He suggested that the paint protective film from 3M would have been better protection because it can protect more surfaces of the sill, vertical, horizontal, and edges. I think that he was right. I'm now seriously considering the film for the rear bumper rather than the metal plate.

I just checked at my Mazda dealer in Fort Myers FL about buying the CX5 OEM sill plates. He quoted $124.95 and I told him I can get then on Amazon for ~$95. He showed me his computer screen and he was paying ~ $100? for them and said he would sell to me for $105.63 + Tax. We sure that Amazon is selling genuine OEM parts for cheaper than my dealer pays?

Depending on your local sales tax rate and/or what the Amazon seller charges for S&H, this might be cheaper: http://www.mazdaparts.org/mazda-cx5-door-sill-plates.html

Free shipping, no tax (to FL).

That is a good deal. I paid around $108 for mine.

Not sure if I needed to but use something like this when installing them.

try utilizing a combo of both...that is my intention with the door sills and protecting the paint around it. the door sill is a nice touch to the area, and adds some contrast to it too. the 3m clear bra vinyl can be purchased pretty inexpensively online, and should do the trick in protecting the remaining areas which will likely be scratched upon entering/leaving the vehicle.

dont be afraid of the vinyl application either...it's not as hard as it looks in applying it, just be sure to have the right tools to do the job and it'll come out fine, plus patience! it is a removable item in the end if you fail the task, I'd definitely encourage you to attempt it if you're somewhat of a DIYer
