shudder at idle?

Hey all, wondered if anyone had experienced this. If there's already been a thread about it point me that way - I wasn't sure how to search for this one.

I've noticed my MSP has started to do this odd thing at idle. I'm not sure what it is, but it feels kind of like the engine is giving this little shudder. It feels a bit like that first shake you get when a car is about to stall but it just does it once or twice and it doesn't seem to get worse.

I've only noticed it since I last filled up the tank so I'm suspiscious that it may just not like the gas I put in (are the MSPs touchy about this?). Is there anything else it could be that I should be watching for?
The car's only got about 2k on it and hasn't been flashed.

does it do it then rev higher (like 1100 rpm)? my p5 does this sometimes ever since I installed my ground kit

Leigh,

MSP's have been known to have very erratic idles. Mine did it for awhile for the first 2K. It doesn't do it anymore. Some pepole have had stalling issues, due to vaccume leaks from broken/cracked IC pipes, etc. Check your piping to see if it's all OK, if it is, take it in to the dealer if you think it's a big concern.

My MP3 did that for the first 10000 miles, but it went away. Now the only shudeer I get is at 1100 RPMs from my bushings. Good Luck.

It doesn't seem to be reving up any (my old Celica used to do that all the time. Drove me nuts & they never could figure out what caused it *grrr*) & I'm pretty sure its not the fans (those are LOUD on this car, kind of hard to fail to notice them coming on)

I'll check the piping and if I don't notice anything just keep an eye on it. Unless it gets worse I'm not really worried right now. Its just a minor annoyance. Hopefully it will settle down in a few thousand...

cause mine is doing the same thing, but when the car is warmed up completely, its gone, the idle however is not stable....jumps 20-30 rpm up and down all the time....not too worried about it though...

20-30 rpms is more than fine, our cars use a hot wire MAF, you will get a little bit of idle fluctuation.

Mine does this too, drops about 100 to 200 rpms and then idles back to normal. I woulnd't worry about it, never has stalled nore caused a problem yet, and it's only when i have it out of gear and just started it. Dunno why.

If you have the heater or defroster on the engine will shudder when the ac compressor cycles on and off. Happens every minute or so on my car.
