i have a vibrant exhaust and i would like it to sound like a subie.. any suggestions

Yeah.. you may not get the Subie sound from a Mazda.. just buy a Subie if you want it to sound like one.

also...any laws or regulations in messing with emission systems in your area? in my opinion, not worth it, but thats also personal preference loaded with preference in keeping my car street legal.

The vibrant free flowing cat is a great cat. I've been considering adding one to my Perrin exhaust to try and tone down some of the loudness. With that said. you won't gain much if any power by gutting the Vibrant cat. And there is no way I'll sound like a Subie boxer motor unless of coarse you have a boxer motor in your car.
The only things that you will successfully achieve are:
1. you'll ruin a perfectly good Cat
2. You'll add sound maybe not in a good way

Not going to work for you. I have removed the cat from my Vibrant and still just sounds like a mean 4 banging turbo. The H block and unequal exhaust manifolds are just the beginning of where subies get their sound. I did however notice a power gain from removing the cat.

thanks everyone im gonna leave it alone .. it finally broke in and sounds awesome it has a nice popping sound.

popping sound might actually be an exhaust leak.....just to let you know. tighten down your bolts and check to make sure your gaskets are ok...You did install gaskets right?

He probably means backfires which are normal for our rich ass factory tune.

Perrin catless exhaust is the closest you'll get to sounding like a Boxer motor in a MSP....without going and buying a Subaru.

Amen. But my fiance' isn't really a fan of it.....oh boy. Her '05 Civic doesn't make any noise when running compared to mine, and I often try to start her car when it's already running....yikes "grind".

Yeah, I have removed the sub and amp because it's pointless, you cannot hear anything with the Perrin exhaust.
