Sho's 2007 MS3

Drivers side axle seal and passenger front endlink swapped out Saturday. So far no leaks, or nasty Clunks. Thanks to Evan #1 for lending a hand, garage and tools!

Got another tune revision from Rob this morning, as well. E85 tune with the FMIC is about done. Then time to go revisit the 93 tune, as I'll be running that all winter.

Tried out drag racing for the first time today. First run was an epic ******* failure. Had launch control set at 3900...left the line and started wheel hopping quite violently. So violent that the wheel speed sensor decided it had enough, shut ABS off, as well as my speedometer. Since we don't have a true 2 step, that works off the clutch instead of wheel speed, I got limited to 3900 rpm with the Speedo reading 0 and finished at 19.99 at 59mph.

Second and final run of the day, which ended up being my only clean pass after Reflashing the car to reset the wheel speed sensor, I ran 13.99 at 105mph.
Here's the video from in the car of me chasing down a Subaru.

Haha. Thanks, Will. I'm kind of hoping Lauri posts up the video of my failed pass. Everybody that saw it, said it looked crazy how bad I was hopping.

The time between the tree starting and when you got staged was so short! Perfect R/T is .500 right?

Depends on the tree. Some of them are 0.400, some are 0.500, dragway 42 is 0.000.

Yeah, they were rushing to get everyone's runs in since we had a rain delay. I barely had time to prepare for it once I got staged.

First part for the built motor arrived.

Also something else I found to be interesting. Not that this is 100% accurate, but I always see people talking about being to somewhat accurately calculate horsepower based on trap speed at the track. So..being curious, I found a calculator and also took a data log and ran it through virtual dyno.

Car weight at the track was 3180 (car), 130 (me), 180 (Ryan in passenger seat)=3490. Trap speed was 105.67.
Online calculator says

Data log tonight

3180 (car), me (130), 10 gallons of e85 in the hatch+ tools, a couple bags of work stuff, school stuff, etc (70)=3380

So...my moog front passenger endlink keeps breaking off in the sway bar. Jake was kind enough to get me a set of different brand e46 endlinks that look to be of much better quality. The sway bar is centered and parallel with the ground...so there's no weird tension going on.

Here's the carnage

Also, finally wore the "W" off of my Conti's today. Took 23k miles, so I'm pleased with that.

Woo. Less machine work to do for the built motor. Friend in PA has a Crank for me that is in perfect shape. I'll be picking that up in a few weeks when he is back in Pittsburgh

Some small updates from the weekend.

Picked up a dash hawk from Jakey on Saturday so my AP can be thrown in the glove box to avoid further screen burn in. Love it!
Seems my radiator is getting a ton of air at freeway speeds and keeping coolant temps down

Also picked up wrinkle black VC and TC from Evan #1 for the built motor. Looks freaking fantastic!

Updates:

Was going to send the block off to the machine shop and order rods and gaskets and all that s*** next week....buuuutt, I hit a ******* deer today on my way over to Mark's place to pick up some race car parts.
So that $ will be going to pay my deductible. Here's some pics (I got really lucky. Big ass buck, jumped out from my left, and landed its feet on my hood and headlight and not through my windshield)

And the go fast parts I got from Mark

Rican, you need some Coyote Piss, (Deer Repellant) on your car! Two deer in less than 60 days Let me know when you want to order the rods, pistons, etc.

Lots of stuff ordered over the holiday weekend with all the sales going on. Now to be patient while waiting for it to all show up
