Scratched Hood

 I was washing my car the other day and I found noticed that I had a large scratch area on my hood, with several small scratches going in one direction (almost like a lot of little key scratches). I have no idea of what to do because the area is about 8 inches long and 2 inches wide. I was just going to take it to the dealer and ask them what to do, but I was hoping to get some ideas from all of you.

Thanks in advance

can you feel the scratches? i would try a fine cut rubbing compound and if that doesnt work go to a deeper cut or try scratchx but that stuff doesnt really work unless you can barly see the scratch.

good luck

If they are laght scratches try using Meguiers paint cleaner, (step 1 of the 3 step process). That always works for me when I get light scratches.

I aslso noticed a spot on my hood with lots of little scratches......come to find out my paint was flaking off....so I took mine back to the dealer and they repainted it for me.....just a bit of info.(yellowp5)

Seeing as it costs $300-$400 to have a hood painted you might as well just get a c/f one

if you put rubbing compound on a clear coat it will scratch it worse unless you have glaze and a good buffer to buffthe scratchs back out when you are done.
