SCCA Auto-X Rules: Read This First, Then Ask Questions

okay...so replacing both cats no matter what it will move me into a different class if i competed gotcha

Yeah. You may want to PM 122Vega, he should know the STX rules pretty much by heart now lol

haha yea... i guess its that or read the book to memorize it... and he lives in the same area as me to so either way works out for me

Is it possible to do the VTCS removal without getting moved out of STS for my P5? I need greatly need a header and to remove VTCS to help my engine run better. But I do not want to go against cars that would destroy me.

Magus

nope, in STS intake is open to the throttle body, which won't let you do the VTCS removal. Also, the only header that retains all emissions equipment is the wagner shorty, but those haven't been made for a year or two.

ok i read but didnt see this. i have an 07 MS3 with a CAI. No other mods, what class??

i think STX

yeah that is kind of what i was thinking. If not stx than sts perhaps? i was hoping i could get a with DS or even DSM

i think your diff puts your into STX. I believe STS is open diff or factory viscous diff.

For DS you'd have to put the stock intake back on, but could do a cat-back.

DSM? Do you meen SM (Street Mod)? You can run SM with the intake, but you'd need r-comp tires to be even close to being competitive.

I think he meant DSP. And I haven't checked in a while, but I'm fairly certain the MS3 fits in STX

hmmm yeah i may have meant DSP. With the car bone stock, no mods, its a DS car. But with the intake that puts me all the way in STX?

The maximum forced induction displacement is 2.0 L. The car should fit in STU, DSP, or SM (in the order I'd want to run them on street tires).

is that a question or a statement? lol
If you're referring to my previous post, then it is a statement. I read an article in this months edition of the SCCA magazine they send out, and one piece they noted is you can remove your muffler for stock class. It isn't so much for exhaust flow as it is for weight reduction.

In stock class only from the cat-back. And yes it can be a huge weight savings, but make sure you are within any sound restrictions within your region.
