Report Car Problems Here.....Everyone!

its the same as the MP3.. but different face and rear. same body engine and suspension.. even if its well aligned and balanced still pulls to the right a little.. the clunk in the trunk annoy's me more.. its so embarrassing if you have passengers and iddnt know that almost all MP3 has this problem..
 
mine pulls to the right post nailing a curb, and my caster is out, there's a rumor among alignment shops that our cars don't have an adjustable caster, but they do, might wanna get a place to check your caster to see if it's out, because pulls are typically only related to a caster issue, i.e. bent strut, or shifted strut
 
I dont mind the pulling one bit. Mine really only does on crowned or domed roads and i just ruled it off as our suspension being tight, stiff and very responsive...cuz well it is. And yeah there is a slight pull on highways but it is highway speeds and not many cars have the tendency to shimmy a bit to one side while going 70,75 or 80. But yeah I am in need of an alignment and balancing.(shrug)
 
My foglamps are not working anymore. One is cracked and has some water in it. I would of thought that it would cause it to burn out but to make everything not work is kinda odd. Any sugestions?
 
2001 Mp3 with 82,000 miles daily driver even in the winter.. NOT A TRAILER b****.

** Drivers side window wouldn't go up or down + warrenty = dealer replaced window silonoid.

** On 3 of the 4 rims the clear coat started flaking off = dealer replaced them with new rims.

** The clunk !! I have H&R springs on the stck struts. It still makes the clunk.= I've had my car on the lift a few time to see underneth, but nothing really looked bad..

** Heat sheild under the shifter, above the exhaust rattles. = i have a aftermarket ezhaust, and shifter so some bolts may have loosened up. Yet to fix.

** The paint is fading on all the plastic parts on the outside off the car. such as side mirrors, side ground effects, peice over licence plate. = yet to fix

** The fan gets really loud running on 4 when the rear defroster is on too. Yet to fix.

** Sometimes I cant get it into 1st gear still or baerly rolling. Also grinds and is hard to get into 3rd. I now have a Clutch masters clutch, and Fidanza flywheel, and they seem to help a little with the grinding hardness.

** When idleing the motor makes a slight ticking sound. = Yet to fix.
** Stck kenwood head unit just crapped out about a month ago with about 82,000 miles. I'm going to send it to kenwood inc. I'll let u know what happens.

2001 MP3 bought new with 7 miles.
now have.... H&R spring, JiC exhaust, Clutch master clutch, light weight flywheel, Injen CAI,
 
dude when my car is still warming up, and if i use my brakes (god forbid) my brake light comes on and stays on for 5-10 minutes... whats up w/ that? my e-brake is completely disengaged...
 
check engine light. Code 171= Fuel system too lean! Only modes are a injen cai and magnaflow catback.

Your brake fluid is low. That happend to mine. replaced the pads, turned the rotors and refilled the fluid and problem went away!
 
ive got a 96 MX5 and i just noticed yesterday a really slight grinding sound and very loud high pitch squeal everytime i push in the clutch. also the cluth has become increasingly hard to push in and seems to stick a lot. i have also had problems with the car sputtering before startup while i have the clutch depressed all the way. can someone please tell me what is wrong and how i can fix it permanently without taking it to a shop and spending a thousand dollars to have it screw up again. my brother is a mechanic so he has the tools just hasnt been able to look at it yet.
 
That damn clunk is annoying. and then my fog lights shake... and some times wile shifting into 3rd is grinds... other than that the car is good!

Fix your clunk....
 
1) Squeeks on all rear suspension units
2) Grind when shifting into third (synchros)
3) Engine "clunks" during slight throttle lift during pre corner braking (bad axle?)
4) Windshield crack not caused by impact (seeing dealer ASAP)
5) The thunk
 
Starting to become a money pit...

Note, and note well, I bought this car at about 66k, it now has 92k. It was wrecked once by the previous (first) owner. I didn't know quite how bad until after my wreck. Turns out it was already on its second hood. I raced it for one season SCCA solo. It's completely stock (sorta). I drive... spirited. I'm no granny and I floor it pretty often, but I've never hit the rev-limiter. So yea, I've beat it a bit. So, onto the problems.

1. The clunk, even after the 5th round revised sway bar bushings upgrade.

2. Its a bear sometimes to get into 5th, synchros bout dead or something, I double-clutch anyway.

3. In the cold 1st is next to impossible, just until it warms up.

4. The stereo screen went full bright, unreadable. Got a new faceplate, no biggie.

5. Started misfiring in the second (from left) cylinder. Found out this was due to the damned rubber ends on the spark plug boots, that cylinders rubber end was cracked, disintegrating. $300 for new coil packs and wires, or 15c for a piece of electrical tape, your choice, I can't speak for new wires but the tape worked. Took a damned long time to fugger that out though.

6. Rubber in right motor mount got FUBARed, new mount from dealer wasn't horrendous

7. The trunk leak, water in left trunk side panel, sometimes spare tire well... still haven't quite fixed that. No rust yet, not much water, but still a definite annoyance.

8. So I get it paid off, and the next month, ****** cuts out in front of me, right front banged in. Not driveable. Insurance took it up the butt, damned near totalled. Being inexperienced, I knew not what a ride I was in for. Body shop took almost 3 months, cus of 'ordering delays'... But I was happy, looked almost good as new, new radiator, new fog light that I had busted beforehand. Stereo now does not play data disks like MP3 cds... grr

9. Months later, my dumb ass is cornering like im at the scca race again, let off throttle through an s-curve, backend lifts and kicks, I catch but overcorrect, and end up backed into a fence, with a 1ft tall concrete block caught under the front... This is where the real trouble begins. The fence only did cosmetic damage, the concrete block twisted the s*** out of the frame piece under the engine with the tranny mount. Had to have that replaced, and they had to replace the oil pan as well. I had a feeling this would spell doom. This wasn't cheap for my insurance either, they hate me by now... Also stereo doesn't play some normal cds...grr

10. New oil pan gasket leaks, I checked bolts, they weren't even hand tight... took it back.

11. Doom came knocking soon enough. It's been a few months, and then I'm in a parking lot about to shut off and the oil pressure light comes on. (Mutters curses...) Then this horrid knocking starts... I shut off, check oil, there is none... Engine is essentially blown, It ran enough to get it on a trailer, then it was dead, the front crank seal and cam seal were blown, and I had severe knocking... So, time for a new engine. (I don't know for sure if this was due to beating or the wrecks or both)

12. New engine, new probs, car had 92k on it, engine had 66k. Got a real deal on the engine and install. No probs right after install, but then s*** started to go wrong. First a little coolant leak, fixed that with a new hose clamp.

13. Exhaust leak. The 90 off the first cat, where the springloaded bolts hold the flange gasket in. The holes for the springbolts on the 90 broke off (they are incredibley thin). This piece is Not sold aftermarket, and from the dealer its $211. Right now its rigged with coathangers, sounds like a hellspawn lawnmower with a rumble. I haven't yet made a decision whether to buy the replacement piece, wait for the backordered OBX header, or weld something up on the old b****.

14. This exhaust noise seems to have made the bolt for the tranny mount on the front come out...wtf

15. The sway bar links have hit the bucket, rear left fell off the wheel end... going up to the dealer with some anal lube.

16. Also after the first wreck, when I use the a/c and make left turns, water sprays all over passengers feet... kinda funny sometimes... mostly annoying and mold causing. I never use a/c anyway.

17. Reminds me that the fan started screeching at > 2 occasionally. Stops if you shut off and restart.

18. Dash brake light comes on/stays (with e brake completely down) on in hard cornering, sometimes just randomly, hasn't done that in months though.

So anyway, yea I'm not the brightest crayon all the time, but this car is getting weird on me.(scratch)
 
Umm...lets see...sqeaky bushings I guess, but only when the air is right temp/humidity. Thats it for me, unless you count over cranking the stereo and the protection kicking in, which is easily remedied by turning off the head unit (hold down the source button till it shuts off completely and the dolphins die) and letting it cool off for about 5 mins.

Oh and I never changed the plugs until it started running crappy and the check engine light came on. I guess 80K miles is pretty good for plugs anyway. Other than that, it starts every time and is yet to use or leak a drop of oil in over 150 K miles.
