Hey everyone, I just moved to Saskatchewan! well.. that part kind of sucks, but the good things are 1) cheaper insurance and 2) no front liscence plate! but now that I've removed the plate... how do I cover up the holes? will water/snow/ice/dirt get built up behind the bumper if I leave them as is?
any suggestion for covering them up cleanly?

shouldn't cause a problem, but if you don't want the holes for cosmetic reasons you can just swipe some bondo over it and then paint it over, easy fix..
need more detailed instructions just PM me, or check the forums for an how to on bondo

well if you dont want to work so hard with the whole bondo thing, you can do what i did, put the screws back in. i have a black 3 5 door so the screws dont show up as much. but yeah just a suggestion.

there's these small plastic plugs you can get at any car supply store, pop them in and a touch of "touch up paint" and you're good to go!

? to ya

Hey
just a question
Im in Texas, when you guys got your rig
was the front plate allready on, or did you put in on yourself

just wondering

Ya, mine was peirced by the dealer too. when i took em off, i was disgusted to find they are just self tapping screws into the plastic...how effing cheap is that!

I bought my car in Ontario, it's the law to have a plate on the front and back so there's really no choice, the dealer installs it for you. Now that i'm in saskatchewan, I have to deal with the holes, I'm thinking of taking a very sharp knife and taking off the ridge, then getting some small plastic plugs, painting them with my touchup paint, and then securing it with some light caulking... think the caulking would react with the paint/plastic on the bumper?

the caulk might. you could look into a body kit if thats your thing. i personally think body kits are tacky unless you're racing and are using the kit for downforce/ weight reduction.

I'm all about the GO before the SHOW... no point in getting a new bumper just to cover up 2 little holes!! especially at those prices... heck for a new nose job I could get an intake...exhaust..... maybe one new wheel :p

finally someone who sees body kits for what they are..... money that could have been spent on performance parts.

I filled mine with hot glue. let it dry so it was tacky but not sticky and shaped it to fill the hole. I covered it with touch up paint. It's not perfect but it looks WAY better than ugly plugs

I may go back later and do it with body filler, but this was just an easy temporary job

Filling holes

I live in Houston, and yes it is illegal to have to front plate but I have had no trouble so far. I went the the local O'Reilly's and bought some interior plugs, like what they use to hold your center console and other interior pieces in, and I primered that and then painted the color of my car. It turned out looking awesome. I would take pictures but for the past 2 weeks we've had crappy weather.

Good luck,

I'd be very interested to see how your solution turned out!
