Red-stripe In-Dash GPS Installed!

I finally got around to installing my unit, but am having a few problems:

1) When using Finean, other than telling me the maps are unregistered, it also says it cannot locate the GPS port. I've tried placing the GPS antenna on the dash facing the window as well as under the vents behind the headunit. When I went to Finean's config page and clicked on 'auto' under GPS ports, it just cycles through with no result.

2) Route 66 tells me its out of memory.

3) When playing mp3s off a CD/DVD, is there anyway to browse the folders? I only see the option to change tracks, even shuffled is greyed out.

4) I know some people have placed the microphone behind the steering wheel, but where did you have the cable come out of?

5) Does the bottom edge of the unit sit flush with the temperature controls for you guys? Mine doesn't seem to want to.

Thanks!

1. i deleted Finean off my sd card.

2. route66 gave me 0 problems.

3. i haven't tried playing mp3's off a dvd or cd. i'd try the usb port.

4. i ran the cable under the driver side dashboard and clipped the mic to the the temp slots right next to where you put the key in the ignition.

5. mine isn't flush either.

does your AM stations work?

Thanks! I havn't put the USB cable in yet.. though I noticed there were two in the box, one was a mini to usb-out and the other is a usb-in to a weird plug?

And yes my AM stations work, although I couldn't tune into a station with exact freq. like someone else mentioned here.

One more thing: How do you interact with DVD home menus? The ones that show chapter selections, extra scenes etc.. tapping on the touchscreen just brings up the unit's own dvd menu.

The USB cable that you use is the one with the weird end on it.

I've never even tried to use the AM.

My unit fits perfectly flush with the AC controls. You gotta tuck the wires in behind it really well. Push them down behind the AC unit and up above near the vents, etc. Just get the wires out of the way.

You might need to go into the Windows CE interface and increase the memory. Or just get IGO/TomTom.

I got Tomtom installed, configered the ports etc. and all works fine, except when I start the car again the settings were lost! How do I save the settings onto my micro sd?

Another thing, did you guys have to extend your RCA/usb cables? I ran them under the cupholders but they aren't long enough to reach the aux jack.

I also couldnt get the microphone to work with the bluetooth, altho I could hear the person i'm calling thru the car speakers.

It should automatically save on your microSD card.

I ran RCA cables to the inside of my armrest using the factory Aux adapter, just drilled 3 holes in it. here: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123740825

I had to mess with the microphone jack for awhile to get it to work correctly. Push it all the way in and slowly start pulling it back out until it starts working.

Both my RCA cables and USB stops about 2-3 inches away from the factory aux port, I've tried tugging on them but they end up getting unplugged at the back of the unit, I guess I'm going to need an extension.

How are the folders setup with your tomtom? After I patched the maps I dumped them inside the 'Navigator' folder with the tomtom exe. This works. I've tried putting them in the root of the sd card like somebody said and it didn't work for me. But everytime I start it up it asks me to choose a language, color, home address, configure com ports, etc again.

I used an adapter and extension when I did my RCAs. I don't have TomTom any more since I use IGO, so I can't compare my folder. You might try putting the text file in the root directory as well as the navigator folder.

Ok, I'll buy some extensions, continue playing around with tomtom, and switch over to Igo when I eventually give up lol. Thanks

I have mine in an IGO8 folder with the Navi.cfg file on the root, but I guess it will work either way. You can use 400x240 if you don't want any stretching (800x480 is our screen size), but 480x234 or 480x272 will also work and will give more detail. However, you won't even notice the stretching, so go for 480x272 like frankyou says. :)

I guess I'll go and put it back in its own folder, tidier that way. Igo wouldn't boot up for me at first so I dumped everything to the root, and used the cracked exe + license all at once where it then started successfully.

It was the same deal with tomtom, it wouldn't save any of my settings untill I dumped everything onto the root as well, now my sd card is sort of a mess, haha.

Actually I just checked and I'm using 480x234 because of the UI I use and really like. I've uploaded a copy, maybe you guys will like it too. Make a backup of your current files before overwriting, of course. Copy the contents of the zip files found here into your ui_igo8 directory and the attached sys.txt into your iGO8 root (wherever your current may be).

Edit: Oh, and I use the Alaskan Sunset background. Goes well with the colors. Let me know if it works for you, or if it's even any different. Maybe I just like the start up screen. :)

I don't have an ui_igo8 directory, is this a folder you need to create or do you mean the main igo8 directory?

Edit: I just hooked up my harddrive of mp3s, the interface is pretty horrible and you can't interact directly with the file browser, you have to use the arrows on screen. When you restart the device it would try to read the DVD in the drive first, and you'd have to select usb mode again, it doesn't just resume playing...

Hrmm... mine is in iGO8\ui_igo8

Ya, the interface isn't the best, but it works. And I wish it would pick up where it left off. When I use it, it's usually on my 1hr 15min drive to work so I don't notice it that much.
