Red-stripe In-Dash GPS Installed!

So I messed up in the settings trying to get the GPS to work. Now whenever I put the unit into NAV mode, it takes me straight into this white screen touch calibration mode. The screen is unresponsive on this screen, but works normaly in other modes. I can't seem to back out of it. Is there a way to boot into windows CE? Is there a way to force a factory reset mode? Frustrating...

Page 4 of this post shows you how I get into CE:

Edit: Also, did anyone else notice carpcandaccessories is no longer an authorized vendor on this forum? What's up with that?

Yeah I saw that, problem is, I can't access that screen that lets me browse for files. As soon as I hit NAV, GPS or whatever. I puts me right into that white screen cal mode I can't get out of. The only thing I can think of is I just unplugged the wiring harness so it will not get poer overnight and see if everything goes back to factory default in the morning.

Thanks for reply though.

I don't know what's up with the cold shoulder for carpcandaccessories. They did me pretty great. I'll let everyone know if I get it resolved.

Well, I got the calibration screen issue fixed. Now I just have to play around with the GPS functions and get them to work. Route 66 says it doesn't have enough memory to open the map. I'll keep messing with it.

Whenever I try to start Route 66, it goes to the loading screen for about 10-15 seconds and then gives me the message, "Not enough memory to open this map". Has anyone else experienced this? This is a real pain. I cannot get any of the GPS apps to work properly.

So you loose the trip computer? I didn't realize that it is a part of the head unit.

after installing and playing around with the unit last night i figured out that in the rout 66 maps that are provided, it keeps track of average and current speed. so in a way that is part of your trip computer! lol
fuel economy is easy enough and more accurate too. only thing missing is current fuel econ and range.

Hi

I was just wondering what would be the best way to plug an iphone 3g in
AV?
AUX?
iPod Cable that came with unit?

The AV cable they give you is the best option. Then you can also output movies to the unit, or other items if you are jailbroken. The "ipod" interface for the unit isn't worth using.

where has everyone been mounting the reverse cameras?
i ordered one but have yet to install it and probably wont for a week or 2. im thinking ill mount it on the little plastic lip above the license plate.
i know the reverse camera is kindof a pointless mod on this car, but i figured for $35 it was worth it. i hope the night vision works well tho, because it is rather difficult to see through the tint at night.
pictures of mounting locations would be nice if anyone has them
thank you

I'm just about to purchase this unit and have read through this thread. Looks like positive comments so far. I want to make sure FM, and Bluetooth work perfectly. The person who started this thread said the head unit sounded better than the stock system. Do others concur? I wasn't happy to read about the ipod interface taking so long to scroll from a to z. Has anyone found a work around for this? I've watched all the videos I can find on this unit and the interface doesn't seem as quick to respond as some of the other cheaper units on the market. Anyone finding this to be the case and a little annoying? I just got burned on a mazda 3 GPS unit for the top dash (motorized screen) on ebay and am being extra cautious on this purchase. Especially since this is twice as much. Any one regret buying this or is it well worth the money?

BTW car advanced sent me a video of the unit in a mazda 3 where the trip computer works! Check it out here... I uploaded it to my youtube account

Video showing how to access trip computer from the head unit. Does this work for anyone else?

The FM and bluetooth work perfect and the sound is WAY better on the factory Bose system with this HU, lots of actual bass. The iPod interface pretty much blows and it's much better to just use the A/V input instead or copy all your songs onto an external USB flash or hard drive. Much better interface that way.

Edit: I tried to get the trip computer to work like on that video and it does not. Not sure what is different about it, maybe he has newer firmware?

Interesting...I wonder if only certain mazda 3 years work...unfortunately I have no idea what year his mazda 3 is...Could be firmware like you said. I see you have your in a 2009 Mazdaspeed 3 correct? Mine is a 2007 Mazda 3. If I buy one I'll let everyone know if the trip computer works for me like in the video. I wonder if anyone else got it working?

Any other quirky issues with the unit? Can you use the steering wheel controls to scroll and select songs with usb mode?

That really is too bad about the ipod interface...using the ipod interface will video playback from ipod play on the head unit? The ipod integration was another reason for buying the unit...should have guessed it sucked when none of the people in the videos on youtube are using it. :)

Yes xnaron the sound is wayyyyy better with the bose package, i just got my unit and caradvanced have been a great help.

I have got tomtom australia working fine, had some problems with it freezing, but caradvanced notified me what to do and it worked fine.

Ill have a look if my trip computer works, but i doubt it cos i have never seen it with the stock unit. I have a 09 Mazda3 SP23. The steering wheel controls do work, but i haven't tried in usb mode yet, i think it will though.

I have my iphone 3g plugged in via an apple AUX cable, and a 3.5mm earphone jack, i noticed that when i got a call it wouldn't go through output to the dock connector, but sound from the ipod works fine. The iphone did output the video to the screen both in iPod and youtube, and some apps allow output.
I just use a dlo vent mount and plug the cables in.

Sound is much better and you will have more bass than a stock Sport or Bose system. Best to use AV cables for iPod, then you can use video too anyway. Not sure how that trip-computer works on his car, the trip function is built into the stock radio so he may have an updated unit or something.

Thanks for answering all my questions...one final question...when using the steering wheel control to jump to the next song on the IPOD how long does it take (5 to 6 seconds) or much quicker?

thanks

It doesn't take long per song BUT you can't select albums or artists...they just appear as a massive list of songs starting from A to Z. I don't think anyone uses the iPod interface, it just isn't very good

when using rout 66 does anyone know how to cancel directions without quitting the whole program?
