Recommend a good joystick or gamepad

I'm looking to get a good joystick and possibly a gamepad.

I currently have a POS joystick I got for something like $20 years ago. It constantly goes out of calibration, and has a lot of play, very inaccurate. Has a cheap flimsy feel to it, movement is not solid or smooth.

I hate it.

What would be something that doesn't suck?

what kind of games would it be used to play? how much are you willing to fork out?

I'd recommend an X-Box gamepad. I'll never use anything else.

grab a logitech. I use a xbox gamepad myself.

Whatever I feel like playing, gosh.
Seriously just looking for a general purpose deal, I'm not huge into super realistic flight sim stuff, so it doesn't have to be an exact F16 replica or anything. I'm thinking $70 tops for the joystick.
