I opened up mt rear brakes to change them but i am having a hard time trying to figure out how to push the cylinder in the caliper back in.

usally on my other cars i just took the caliper off the knuckle popped open the brake fluid container under the hood and then pushed the cylinder in with a clamp.

but there is another way to release the cylinder.

Can any one please help!!

try harder, what you're doing is correct.

at the back there is also a adjustment place where you can put an allen key in, that might help too.

can you do a favour for me while you have the caliper off, can you measure the size of the piston in mm please? thanks

The Pistons in the calipers twist in. You need a specail tool or some creative screw driver work to do it. So don't try to hard or you might mess them up.

Any other advice for installing brakes, i will be doing my first brake job as soon as i decide what im buying for pads and rotors.

yeah i have seen those types of calipers but i didn't see any place to put that tool on the caliper to srew it in.

On my P5, there is a bolt right behind the piston you take off and a allen wrench fits in and it backs out the piston... YOU CANT just push the piston back in.. You need to back out the allen... hope this works

i spent two hours trying to change the rear pads. until i took the the damn thing of the car and found the set screw in the back. then it was a 10 min job. man did i feel like a dumbass

wow thats weird, ive never heard of anything like that. now once the piston is back in do u tighten that allen screw back or what happens to it???

first of all thanks to all for your help with the brakes, i just did mines last night and it was easy with the info you guy gave me but i also have the same questionn as DevilsSi1481, i just left it like that and the brakes are working fine but i wonder if it might become loose or something and become a worst problem.

i only have 13900 man and i'm dying to know what's the problem, i just got of the phone with the dealer, they'll check it next week.

My rear brake pads were completely gone man and the front i had more than half still on them, i change them all four anyways to be safe you know

wow moose, thats low

I was just informed by my dealer that I have about 20% of rear brakes left ... and My fronts are fine?

Where did u buy your pads?

i got them from a store named coopers auto parts, they are part of carquest, and they have lifetime warranty, so when they were off i just go back with the receipt and they give me new ones
