take it to a track and find out! you shouldn't need to even come close to 100mph on residential roads... as far as I know, there is no speed limiter, only rev

Hey PhilMa,

I too have a 2002 Auto P5. My car in stock form could barely get to 100 MPH, and that was on a good day with about a 3 mile long straight away. The car would free strong up to about 85 MPH then slow down around 92-94 MPH. The last 6-8 miles per hour up to 100 MPH would take for ever. The car also would go into overdrive gear around 98 miles per hour then just about stop accelerating. I have since added an Injen CAI, OBX Header, Wangers Catless Mid-Pipe, Racing Beat CatBack Exhaust, Wangers Cams. The car still feels like it hits a wall when it shifts into Overdrive but it does continue to accelerate but very slowly. To get around this little problem I just turn off the overdrive and let the car rev. almost to the rev. limiter. (my car hits rev. limiter around 7200 rpm) With that all said I have hit 116 MPH in 3rd just before the rev. limiter then shifted in 4th (Overdrive) and got to 120 MPH.

with my 5spd, I can go 115 going downhill, lol. That's as fast as I took mine with just intake.

205 kph = 128 mph with a Mazdaspeed Exhaust but in 5spd. It could do more but I guess it is limited by power and by drag.

It would take a racetrack with an extremely long straightaway or very steep hill to get to that speed.

If you know of one please let me know!

thats odd. I never had the issue with getting to 100mph. I just had issues with my 5th gear accellerating(manual). I can get to about 135 and then my car doesnt want to go anymore. for some reason my car doesnt want to max out 5th gear. mabey we do have a speed limiter? anyone know???(boom07)

There a rev limiter, I hit 125 and I know its capable of 140+. My hayabusa has a rev limiter too, hit 185 but you take it out and it will go past 220.

haha.....thanks for all the answers.....and comman.....dont matter they an asshole or nice guy......still thankssss.....^^ and i think i will try to check it out....i tell u guys after im done.....

try to over 100mph again......

i will check it out one last time....to see....if any speed limiter....or not enough power......i will let u guys know...hehe

haha....true that.....true that.....

i almost die one ....when i go drift in my 240sx b4.....so yea.....only really late at night on the freeway now.....but thanks for watching out......^^

I hit around 135 in my a/t p5 on the freeway around 3 in the morning. ******* scary going that fast. I'm content with 85 now.

How about this: you listen to us, learn the facts, and then not drive like an asshole on a public street:

1) The P5 has no "speed governer." It is drag limited.
2) If you are making more power, then the car becomes gear limited (like the MSP)
3) Seriously, don't dive this fast unless you're on a nice straightaway on a track.

haha....i know is bs to drive that fast....but just have fun sometimes..there's one feeling drive fast in a track....and there's another feeling drive fast in public road....thats y some can be real racer...and some can only be street racer.....it just depend on what u think...and how u feel....hehe....^^ and is really late at night....when i go to work.....so no one there.....i truly understand....if i kill...i kill myself...not drag other ppl with me.......thanks for looking out......guyss....
