exhaust manifold--> stock cast iron exhaust "header" (for lack of a better term) -->primary catalytic convertor -->downpipe --> midpipe -->secondary cat -->exhaust piping --> muffler -->exhaust tip.
to get the noise to increase, you can remove your resonator... that's on your stock tubing right after your secondary cat. you can also remove your primary cat and replace the stock exhaust manifold "header" with a real long tube 4-2-1 or 4-1 header. a third option is to remove the secondary cat and replace the midpipe with a high flow cat. last option is to change the muffler itself.
if you do a search on header, it should pop up a bunch of conversation regarding the stock exhaust piping.
tonkabui said:i'm not positive for the mp3, but for the p5, the resonator on the stock pipe was part of the long S pipe that went from the secondary cat to the muffler. so you would have to get rid of that whole thing. you can bring it to a muffler shop and have them make you one for no more than $100. that way, you'll still maintain all emissions and will also get you the deeper tone. i can't tell you if it's going to drone on the freeway or not, but the racing beat muffler does a really good job of suppressing the sound. good luck.
