Alright guys... heres the situation.... i want my OEM RB exaust to sound abit louder....

what are some ways to achieve that goal?

But somethings to keep in mind..

1) i dont want to cut or wreck any origional parts

2) i dont want to fail emmissions test

Thanks.

Uh...you can't really do that by not messing with the s*** don't want to mess with;)

not really.

thats like asking how can i cut this stick of cheese in two without cutting it.

or it's like asking how to make your car go faster without altering anything.

or it's like saying you want to take a dip in the ocean, but you don't want to get wet.

Or like how can I make my post count grow without posting...:D

but yeah Like they said...You laid down what you didn't want to mess with, and becuase of that you can't realistically make it louder...You could remove catalysts or install a header, or gut the muffler section of the exhuast...which would all make it louder and sound different, but none of which meet your criteria for how to go about doing this...

oooo... i got it

you don't want to wreck any original parts... fair enough. here's what you do. get replacement piping for your exhaust from the cat back to the muffler. KEEP the stock piping. you'll get your loud sound and you won't have to mess with the stock piping!

SCORE!! haha... i knew it would come...

wow i got lost in the middle of the thread there lol

Alright i know nothing about exausts....

so downpipe....cat-back...axle back....

those words dont really mean anything to me...

anyone care to educate me ? :D

oh man... ok... here we go... let's see if i can get it straight this time....

exhaust manifold--> stock cast iron exhaust "header" (for lack of a better term) -->primary catalytic convertor -->downpipe --> midpipe -->secondary cat -->exhaust piping --> muffler -->exhaust tip.

to get the noise to increase, you can remove your resonator... that's on your stock tubing right after your secondary cat. you can also remove your primary cat and replace the stock exhaust manifold "header" with a real long tube 4-2-1 or 4-1 header. a third option is to remove the secondary cat and replace the midpipe with a high flow cat. last option is to change the muffler itself.

if you do a search on header, it should pop up a bunch of conversation regarding the stock exhaust piping.

thanks for putting out the time to clear that up for me.. :)

Header wouldnt be an option for me because of the CEL or warranty risks attached to it...

Removing the resonator sounds good to me..... how would i go about doing that and what are the costs?

By removing the resonator would i have to run some piping in its place?

i'm not positive for the mp3, but for the p5, the resonator on the stock pipe was part of the long S pipe that went from the secondary cat to the muffler. so you would have to get rid of that whole thing. you can bring it to a muffler shop and have them make you one for no more than $100. that way, you'll still maintain all emissions and will also get you the deeper tone. i can't tell you if it's going to drone on the freeway or not, but the racing beat muffler does a really good job of suppressing the sound. good luck.

had my resonator removed, didn't make it much louder, $25 at the local muffler shop, they cut it off and welded in a new pipe.

Yeah, his should be the same...MP3's stock system only utilizes a Racing Beat axle back, which is basically just the muffler with a little bit of piping leading to it...It isn't a Racing Beat Cat-back system like what a lot of people purchase...so the piping before the muffler should be the same as an ES 2.0L sedan...P5 would be similar to, just that the axle back portion is shorter...(the overall car is shorter)...
