Rally2003's Build Thread

Can't really tell but it doesn't look like it.

I like how we all use Mr. Brees as the example. "What does Bill use? Oh, that setup? Works for me!". haha

Does it really matter? Some would argue that replacing the suspension on a Miata is unnecessary (miata.net fogies). It's their car, whooooo cares what mods are done as long as the person owns it mods it how they want...

that doesnt look like an OE steering wheel

Right, but we were talking about the quick release hub adapter.

The only reason I brought it up was because Corey was selling somethings to fund other things. It just didn't seem like something that was necessary without a cage. That's all. But it's Corey's car, go for it! :)

Why sell the beautiful CF interior pieces to buy a QR hub?

When I swapped a Sparco on I had to delete the clock spring, airbag and horn. There must be a way to retain these features (but for the airbag) but it wasn't worth the money for an aftermarket wheel IMHO.

Sorry for crapping up your thread, Corey. :(

Did you find the split Tech-Flex on eBay you were asking about?

You guys aren't crapping up my thread :) I like the input of others with real opinions other than people just straight up calling my car rice when they don't know what is going on. I understand everyone has their own preference and so do I. I haven't sold the CF interior stuff yet and might end up keeping it if it doesn't sell, but I wanted to change some things up. As for the quick release I was just looking into it and going over some pricing with CR3 to see how much it would cost. I can always just get the quick release later, but would like to have it because I have to park the car outside of my apartment and could just take the wheel off when I come home. Just a added security for the car. I'm getting a new wheel no mater what, but haven't decided on what kind yet though. I really want to sell the stuff I have now to help pay for the wheels and tire first and then later make/buy any of the interior. Wheels/tires are my first priority then the cf and so on. I just wanted to make some extra money to help with funding since this is turning into a pricey build.

If anyone is interested in any of my parts that I'm taking off the car here I'll posts threads in my signature and in here as I go along.
Here is a link for the bezels for the radio and shifter.

I'll soon be posting up the OEM MSP steering wheel w/ horn assembly and airbag in the FS section. I need to get around to selling one of the extra sets of Racing Harts that I refinished too. I'll be all over it tomorrow. On wed. I'll hopefully be layering the CF for Jess's air scoop for her Smart and state rebuilding onto Levi's grille for his 3 :) It'll be a busy week. I would like to buy the wheels and tires within a week or two to start the building process for the CF.

My input on a QR hub is don't bother unless you want to remove the wheel for anti-theft purposes or go with a full halo seat that intrudes severely into the window opening. I thought I would need mine when installing the roll cage, but found out that with the standard seat I don't ever remove it unless I have the car parked in a sketchy location. I don't have any problem getting in the car with the wheel in place so removing it would be unnecessary hassle and possible problem if I didn't get the wheel back on correctly.

edit: The more important reason not to do it is that it does add some slop to the steering wheel (at least with my cheap Jegs version). Not in rotation, but I can wiggle the wheel side to side a little which doesn't feel as nice as a solid connection.

Thanks Bill! I've been doing research on it almost all morning (probably should be doing school work, but oh well). I'm most likely going to just be buying the short hub and steering wheel after the wheels and tires of course :)

Anyone know where I can find a cheap P5 bumper? It would be easier and cheaper for me just to buy and cut one up rather than making a mold to make a one off to then modify again.

Pretty sure I found the wheels that I want for the street on the MSP. They areone of the few wheels that have both sized 17x9 front and 17x7 rear.

I really like the white, but will probably go with gun metal.

+1 for anti-black wheels! I like em.

Yeah, the whole black wheels is getting old with me too. I like white, but not on titanium so that leaves me with bronze, silver, or gunmetal for the MSP.
