y u no consider crazy colors???

LOL, just not my style on the MSP. I do like the orange Sparco wheels and blue Foil Konig's, but I like the bold solid colors on the MSP.

LOL at all of your comments. I use to like black wheels, but then after having them for more than 2-3 years it kinda got old and doesn't look as clean IMO.

Took of the side skirt on the side that was T- car and now see how shady their work is. I always wondered why that side skirt didn't fit like the other side. I saw blistering and sanding marks on the rocker panel and chipped a piece of what I thought was rust off to find out it was a wall of 1/8" thick od bondo with a thin layer of rusted rocker under it :( I really don't want to undo the whole left side of the car right now down to bare metal, because I'm affraid of how bad it really is. Lip, front bumper, both fenders head lamps, and side skirts are now off. I drilled and tapped new holes for all of the broken bolts in the fenders. I need to get new head lamps (mine have broken tabs), some techflex for the wiring, and another left side fender to use as a mock up because mine has a bad bow in the top were it sits on the frame rail. I have the foam to start mocking up the core form of the fender.

What I like to see. Progress.

What I don't like to see :(

So the last of days I've been looking into running a dry sump system for the MSP. My friend and I can up with a couple different possiblites for the project, but the cheapest way to do something like this would cost close to $1000. I can almost build another motor for the price of that so I'm going to start designing a modular mock up design for a trap door system using my extra AWR pan and altering the stock pick up location, centering it in the middle of the pan for better pickup for any change in direction of the oil between the trap doors.

To the hardware store!

You should really save some money for a spare motor or rebuild your other one first. No matter what Shalon says that motor is going to pop soon and you'll have all these mods you can't use since the car will have a blown motor. [old man advice switched off]

Yay, I don't expect that motor to last the whole year. If it does that is great, but 230k miles on a motor that is reving around 5-7k rpm all the time in all reality should have died after the first couple autoX races it ran. The moding the design of the pan should cost less the $50 for the mock up and final piece. If that $50 halps that motor last a year longer it gives me more time to aquire money for a built motor.

I don't mind honest advice either Evan :) I would rather have constructive critisism rather than someone popping in and saying I'm building a rice car.

Hey, you leave the rice car to me, buddy.

I just hate to see you spend a ton of your hard earned money and valuable time on wheels, fender and oil pans just to have the motor blow on the first auto-x and not have any money left over for another used FS or forge your spare. Just some brotherly love and I'm glad you didn't get offended.

Back to the build thread. :)

Is oil starvation on an FS with an AWR pan a problem that needs to be addressed? I haven't heard of a problem, but I also pretty much stick to the Ohio and motorsports sections except when I see something interesting in the new post area so I could easily have missed it.

It's an FS problem in general, esp. the more HP you get out of it. The AWR and Doc B set-ups help out alot but there's always room for improvement with the FS. It's mainly on left turns that are the problem IIRC

There have been several people with oil starvation issues but I find it interesting Bill never had any issues with his experience. It'd probably be better amd cheaper to just stick with the AWR pan and get the Doc B oil pump setup.

I have the DocB, but haven't installed it yet. I think in some cases autoX is harder on oil slosh issues that if I was at a track event. The long periods of rapeated back, to back, to back sharp turns in a slalom. The oil has really no time to rest and is constantly going were on a track the turns aren't as sharp and the oil has a more gradual motion around the pan. It still has slosh tendencies, but it isn't as violent as in a autoX. I'm going to try it on the stock pan first and compare it to the AWR pan and see what the differences are. I bought some acrylic pieces and hinges yesterday for $6 to give it a go and mock one up.

That friend must have some really interesting ideas for a common problem like this..
