Ractive Intake Installation

So I finally got my Ractive SRI installed by late last night, well somewhat (will post pics in the AM )

I have a bolt that I stripped beyond loosening. It is the bolt that is supposed to support the intake under the mass flow sensor utilizing the included L bracket.

Three (3) issues I need help with.

1. never fails... after all is installed I find an extra hose loose at the top portion of the intake near the firewall area. There was a dual support ring (shaped like an 8) that held these two together. One is plugged in and the other one is a smaller hose that is now free and I cant figure where it goes (will post pics)
Also, the breather hose that attaches to the intake then to the engine block, is that supposed to be cut, because it seems a relatively short distance and the tubing coils up when installed...???

2. How is the supplied "J' bracket mounted from the filter clamp to what bolt?

Anyone with detailed pictures of a Ractive sri installed would be greatly appreciated as the ones supplied with the instructions are not that helpful.

3. I noticed a periodic drop in the idle RPM after the installation (possibly from incorrect install?) but the drop is enough to make the car do a hiccup where it almost stalls but resumes an average RPM of about 700-800rpm.... any ideas???

finally i need a new method for removing a stripped bolt from my car so I can mount the "L" bracket properly.

thanks(huh)

reset your ecu, as for the hose yes you can cut it, i just used the hose that was already attached(i bought the ebay sri, and i dont trust that hose it might melt on me) as for that hose near the 8shaped thing im kinda lost pics would help

just remove the battery cable and let it stand for a few mins, hit the brakes a couple of times to make sure everything was discharged, then reconnect and there ya go, oh yeah and once you do this your radio presets will be gone, you can also just take the fuse out and let it sit for a few mins but im not sure what fuse it is

i have that intake...pics would be helpful in understanding exactly what is wrong...

i think i know what u mean.. u gotta attach the J bolt near a fluid container i cant remember what it was but its very near the battery.. i got pics of mine lemme find for u

I have the Ractive super flow system.. not sure what this is. SRI or whatever.. but I only used one of the brackets.. the L bracket.. the J shaped one.. I couldnt figure out where to put it.. so I just left it out.

Here are the pics of the part in question.
I only got off these 3 shots before the battery dies, so I hope they depict what I am trying to say.
The part I am holding is a hose that is connected to the brass colored thing that has a connected hose to it. I dont know where this is supposed to be mounted to or where the hose that I am holding is supposed to go. I spent all night looking at all members intake pics in detail hoping to see where it goes...to no luck.

I have to venture out in an hour or so to figure out how to remove a stripped nut (the one where the L bracket is supposed to mount to in order to support the Intake)

any/all sugestions welcome.
I plan on reseting the ECU to see if this helps the dropping idle... But i suspect that it may be due to the hose in my hand...

thx

oh dude.. dunno what that hose do.. but it's suppose not to be touched.. you should attach it back the the throttle body.. (@ least that's what i think that part is called..) you know that part you attach your intake to..

thats the thing,
I know that before I removed it from the stock intake, there was a plastic female peice that the brass colored peice went intoand the two hoses coming out 9held by the figure 8 clamp) were attached to the brass colored peice...
(still with me)?
now that the ractive intake is in place, there is no place to attach that brass piece and more important not sure where the hose was before...

***help !***

here;s a few pix..

pic4. home depot bracket to hold the intake
pic3. location where i strapped tied that thingy so it would go knocking around
pic2. the lose hose where it's suppose to go.. @ least i think it's that hose..
pic1. where i bolted the bracket to the engine..

hope this helps..

thx... i have nno printer where i am so i drew these... will let you know if they work.... i appreciate the pics.... alot very detailed!!!!

Alright man, this is what you need to know: it is possible to use both the J and L pieces. They both need to be bent a little, but both will work. Make sure the J clip is mounted under the filter fastener. Then bend and twist it with your hands (or pliers) to make it fit into one of the holes left by removing the filter box. PM me if you need pics.

Thanks a ton for those pics. I was having a problem that just developed about a yr after having that intake. The hose that was "just hanging there" that connects to the throttle body, well I had that hose just sitting there not connected to anything. I kept throwing CELs once in a while, but I'd just reset the ECU and it'd come back. Well, lately it was idling bad and then it would "hiccup" like it was about to die and then revved up. I looked at the TB after coming accross those pics and heard a hissing sound and hooked that hose up to it and wallah! The car runs great again and no CEL! These pics need to be on the HOW TO section really bad. Anyone that gets a Ractive intake or the like needs to see these pics. Ractive can't make directions for crap!

i hate to tell ya'll

I hate to tell ya'll, but i had a ractive intake about 7 months ago. the reason i dumped it for a injen? Well, the reason is that after about 4 months after i had it, i went lookin around checking all my hose connections and just doin a visual inspection of the engine bay for anything out of the ordinary. What i found just shocked the hell outta me. when i was feelin around the area of where the intake goes into the throttlebody, i felt something rough on the pipe. i ran my finger over to see what exactly it was, there was a rut where it was bein rubbed. Upon further inspection, i found where it was rubbing against, the master brake cylinder! Needless to say i was extremly pissed off! More than likely if i would have probally left it on for another month, it would have rubbed a hole right into the intake. We all know what happens when that happens, those metal shavenings would have gone right into the engine! Just thought I let ya'll know of the danger and check your intake! You do not want your cylinder walls all pucked up! (gun)

I took my Ractive OUT because it does not have a place to connect this one little vac. hose.

The deal is though, the car NEEDS that little vac. hose or it will stall now and then.(dunno)

My Ractive did the EXACT same thing!

this may sound like a dumb question, but why do u wrap the pipe with that stuff? is it so that it doesn scratch? ive seen it done on headers and i always wondered why? thanks.

those are heat wraps, so it doesnt heat up the tubes, and i also have 2 duct tubes connected to the filter for colder fresher air :)

ractive SRI alone is worst the the stock air box, but w/ what i did, it felt smoother..

as for SRI not fitting well, i bought mine 2nd hand, and it fit perfectly, but the person i bought it from, he had problem installing it, the first tube didnt fit @ all.. so i think it depends how your car is when it was built...
