Protege5 snow chains?

Ilive in Reno NV and want to ski quite a bit this winter. I've got snow tires, but am wondering about chains or goclaws. See here: http://www.flextrax.com/index.html
I'm wondering if there's enough clearance for these or for cable chains. My tires are 195/50 R16. Has anybody used any of these traction devices?

I'd say at stock height there is a ton of room in the wheel well.
Get steelies though. The chains can beat the living crap out of your rims if they move around.

Do you mean the cable chains? I found out the go-claws won't work with my tires, but I did find some link chains that will work and don't require moving the car to install. This sounds good - I hate having to pull forward over the chains, going too far, then backing up too far, etc. It sounds like you're recommending the cable chains, which are cheaper, but a little more hassle to install.

I meant the steel rims. Using chains on the tires can potentially scrape the heck out of your softer alloy rims. I'd prefer to use cheap steel rims.

My impression is that it depends on your tire size and the amount of clearance available. I called them and they were very helpful. They calculated that my tire size (see first post) wouldn't work. They did say it sounded like I should have enough room in the wheel well for them. I'd say, give them a call and let them know how much clearance you have, they can probably tell you if they'll work.
