Done? what does done even mean for a car? haha

it will sound good. I have that set up, header plus mazdaspeed axleback. It's not too loud while crusing but more pronounced when under full throttle. It will sound exactly how it sounds in the how to install the 2.0 header thread, found in how-to section : )

PS. i've been lurking here for a while and you're are doing great work : )

Thanks for the input.. good info, I'll keep it in mind while I make my plans for next spring.

I just hope It still sounds good if I take the next step in the spring and get a header.

Nice. I have a red P5 too, keep up the good work(thumb)

After you install the header, the mazdaspeed exhaust will be really loud, but it still sounds nice. Cops keep looking at my 5....(nervous)

Well i just finished installing XM radio... I didn't really take any pics this time around because everything is hidden away.

that was a rainy, wet, nasty, rusty day.

you should come by the house again soon, i got the forged block in. ill be putting up a photo diary of that in a bit too.

Update!

Holy neglect of my own thread batman!

Anyways I've donea few things over the winter, now If I can just remember them all?

Okay here it goes:

Shift Knob
I ordered a new shift knob from Protegegarage. I got the wrong one the first time, but that's alright, sent it back, got the one I wanted. It look beautiful, feels great (leather) and is much heavier then stock.
Shift%20knob.jpg

Also just before I took my rims off for the winter some slapnus stole all my valve stem caps, wtf? I obviously replaced them when i put the rims back on a few days ago.

I still have the same bad tires. BF Good. Schorchers. bad tread, way to much road noise, useless in bad weather and everyone keeps asking me if they are bald. I'm only using them because they came with my rims, I will never actually pay money for these peices of grabage.

I am still hard at work on the fiberglass project I started last year, although I've gotten much more serious about completing it soon:
Fiberglass1.jpg

Currently I am sanding out the back and edges where I glassed the connection so that it will fit back in the location I made it for. Lots of sanding and bodyfill to come.

I got a coat of wax put on, spur of the moment, at the dealership while I was tehre for service. BIG mistake, I will never have it done there again. The idiot with the power buffer burned the **** out of my side moldings, took the paint right off in several spots. For example:

The dealership is paying to repair it, but it's still a huge inconvienience to me.

Besides that my car was broken into, my stereo was stolen (minus the face plate and hide-away unit, who does that?) I had it replaced, with an upgrade of course. All in all not a whole lot accomplished this winter on the car, other then a full season where my service inspection turned up no problems (nana)

More to follow, I have a grill on order from DG, which by the looks of my Credit card, had been completed and shipped.

Now a recent snap from yesterday:

Enclosure is looking good, can't wait to see the final product.

I thought you had a nice viper 2-way, how did your stereo get stolen??

Easy, first the opened the door, then they ripped out the alarm from under the hood, then they continued to steal my stereo, rip my dash apart, and tear my hvac controls apart. I was in class, this was in a university parking lot.

Alarms don't prevent theft, they only deter against it.

For sure this is a big problem I hope they can fix it to not notice. Anyways its not the guys fault who was putting on the wax. The mouldings on our car for some reason do not hold the paint. First time I was passing my porter cable over it I eneded up with paint all over the white pad I got freaked out. Thinking this stupid buffer is taking the paint off. Then I realized that its only the mouldings and not the surface.

So obviously the guy didn't know this and spent a little too long on one spot on the moulding. You can spend a long time anywhere else and this wouldn't have happend. Its really the fault of Mazda in Japan.

You know what though, It's not like he was a first timer. He makes his living detailing Mazda's at the dealership.... He obviously knew what to be carefull of. What makes it worse is that he didn't tell anyone, instead I discovered it on my own and had to go back the next day.

Update: 13 April 06

Well,
As mentioned before after my stereo was stolen i took the opportunity to upgrade slightly from the pinoeer P6500DVD to the AVIC-N2. Am I afraid about advertising for it to be stolen again? of course! The thing is, you would have to be an idiot to even attempt to take this, it would take you 2 horus to get it out, no lie. The gps antenna is in one place, sattelite radio another, Pioneer adapter another, the brain for the box still elsewhere mounted down, with ultimatly only the screen in my dash and never left with the faceplate on.

It has some really cool features, which I'm sure you all know about. Did I need GPS? well yes, kind of. I cross half the country 2-3 times a year and travel a fair amount. I'm sure it will come in handy. With my switches all set up as per normal to cheat the system it was kind of a mess underneath in the luxury box:

As you can see my pinoeer adapter also comes out inside there. I wanted a way to mount the switches but still be able to store my Ipod. The soloution? Custom of course. I fabricated the panel out of thin metal from a bathroom lightbar that was about to be thrown out. Bent, screwedsanded and primed. Painted it black, 3 coats, 2 coats clear.

Panel1.jpg

It turned out really well. It is solid and a tight fit.

Panel2.jpg

The right is the parking break, left is the speed sensor.

I also worked some more on my fiberglass boxes. As predicted once I wraped the fiberglass around the lip while doing the front, it changed the shape of the box so it didn't fit very well. I'm having a hard time sanding it perfectly, but I'm getting closer, it's almost in now, and a few bolts would hold it in there perfectly. I would just rather not have the stress on the box, so if I can get it to fit in without heavy pressure, that would be a bonus.
Almost there:

Stay tuned, more to follow,

Out.

Great idea on the luxury box! The enclosure is coming along well...nice little build up P!

Can you explain how you are cheating what system, the two switches control the handbrake and speed for what?

Looks like a beautiful system btw.
