Project Protege #2: A Mod Diary

They were procurred from somnone in the region who got two sets of them when he got his RSX-S instead of one (as mentioned previously)

Great pictures (thumb) You are making me want to copy you and get RSX seats :) They look like they'd be very comfortable and grip you much better than stockers.

They are and they do, very comfortable. If you know how to weld, you can do this mod with no real difficulty.

Hey clint, nice to see you around here. DUnno if you recognize my name without the matching 1.6L Dx car. ha :D

I remember you. Nice to see you're starting to do some stuff to the Protege5!

yeah, the only thing that really sets me back is the witners around here. Deciding whether to keep it on the road or not, and what mods are realistic for witner weather.

What side grills are those for the PR5/MP3 where the fogs are suppose to go?
~do you still have your fog stuff??? do you need it or just saving it??? I need them.

they're grill inserts from Canada. Sorry, I don't have the fogs or harness anymore. Fogs were destroyed by 2x4 and wiring harness was sold to a friend.

They are a Canadian only part. Call 250-385-5747, Pacific Mazda in Canada. They were around $60 for both, plus shipping. The part #'s are B32E-50-C11(R side) and B32E-50-C21(Left Side). Make sure these are for a Pro5, MPS2 suspension option to order the right ones.

Update 10 September 2005

Well I promised another big update by the end of the week, and as promised I followed through.

First thing:

P7 Dead Pedal

Well, I've had this pedal for a few months collecting dust because I didn't have the thigns to prep it for installation at my disposal. I decided to go right ahead and clearcoat it first thing.

As you can see it turned out very well. When I placed it in the car to see how it would look, however, I didn't like the fact that I could see the plastic footrest on the carpet underneath it. I came up with the idea to make rubber inserts to fit through the slots like grip pads. I traced the inner outlines, then cut a certain depth into the rubber along that outline with an exacto knife. I then cut into the side of my blocks at the same depth, so it left a raised piece I could fit through the slots, as seen below:

Now it is mounted in the car, but I forgot to take a bloody picture, so I'll take one tomorrow of it.

Second thing:

New RIMS!

They are 17 x 7 RacingHart MSP Rims on 215/45R17 BF G. Scorchers.

I love the rims, I'm not a big fan of the tires, but they came with them. They are far to loud on the road compared to many others I have ridden on. I also put two locking lugs on each rim (different pattern for each) so that no one can do the "take off the other for lugs, twist the rim off and snap the entire lug off" trick.

The rims track much straighter out of turns then my stock rims, and the added size corners very well.

I also took it out on the highway, and though louder, I am ballanced much better and I can hit high speeds without even feeling it.

comments?

lookin good man. I've always liked the way the MSP rims looked on P5's...but for some reason not a big fan of them on the MSP's...lol. I like how creative you are(ie making own s***)...shows you actually care about what happens to her, instead of just throwing some cash at a installer. Don't get me wrong theres nothing wrong with that, but it's a bit more personal when you do it yourself.
