Project Black has Begun! - Colorado

I'll take a pic of the "almost complete" body work. just black primer for now. A little more sanding and priming, then finishing and it should look pretty good. I was just kicking myself in the ass over not taking a "before" picture.

What happened was about 4 years ago, 5 shower blocks (glass blocks you see in a bathroom usually) fell from about 10 feet up in a garage and tattered the side of my car. The rear driver's side door had about 8 minor dings with crease points in them that would not come out with PDR. There was also two spots where the paint had chipped off. It wasn't terrible damage, but it looked like doodoo. The body is straight now, and I'll get a pic of the work so far.

I hope the tokicos ride better and last longer on ur mazda than they did on my old civic!

In for more pics!

so far, i'm loving the way the Tokico's ride with the Eibach pro kit. We'll see. I bought the blues with about 6,000 miles on them. I ended up chopping about 1" off of each bump stop as well to help with a little more travel. she rides real smooth...

Here are the pics...

I am super impressed with that body work, can I fly you up here and you can do mine? haha and good job on the suspension (Y) looks so much better!

Thank you! Unfortunately, some of the initial sanding went too deep and you can see some scratches. I'll have to refinish it again in the near future.

looks great. i cant even tell that something happened. well aside from the paint color lol. but you difinatley did a good job and i cant for pics of it painted =)

So...the issue is that it looks OK in pictures, but if you are closer than 5 feet in person it looks like doo doo! LOL! It will be easy enough to fix, but I had to get this done for the time being. The hard part is completed.

So...quick update. The Tokico HP's that I purchased (from someone on this forum) ended up working OK for about 1 week. My front passenger side already blew. :( It makes me wonder what kind of abuse these saw. Apparently, he purchased them in Jan 2011 and put less than 6000 miles on them. Anyway, working with Hitachi Automotive to try and get a warrantied replacement. Probably won't happen, but worth a shot. Has anyone else ever had issues with the HP's?

Other than that, hopefully, I can clean up and finish the body work within the next few weeks. At this point, I will be at a stand still for a while. Short on cash...

To be continued...

^ Thank you! I did hear back from Hitachi (I think) Automotive. They are replacing the strut under warranty for me. I just have to pay shipping :)

^ Dang! Seriously?? All I read on here is that Tokico Blues are a great shock that give a good ride and perform well. I guess I could have done more research. What happened with yours?

I do like the way they ride, I was just sort of shocked when one blew out so quickly. Probably just a defect or something. Should be here by Friday! :)

Finally got the replacement shock from Hitachi Auto. That was a sucky process.

Still have a clicking/knocking sound when taking off and braking...not sure where to go with that.

What year RX-8 wheels fit the P5?
