I have an MSP sub amp rack in my P5, and I replaced the factory kenwood sub with a JL audio 8w3. The problem I'm having is I am actuallty getting less sound from my JL then i was from the kenwood. I can still hear it, but not nearly as much.

I have a line out converter running from the stock headunit. I'm also using an Auxmod.

Knowledgable people of the audio forum, help me!

are you still using the same amp? what ohms is the old sub? what is the new sub? what power is the amp your using putting out? did you check your ground if you put a new amp in?

Check the wiring, is it a DVC sub? Maybe you have it wired for like 8ohms vs 2.....

Might wanna check the stock sub and see what imp. it is, you may need to upgrade it to something that will handle the load (if in fact it wont)

Read through the subwoofer wiring tutorials on JL's website and check the wiring of your voice coils.

How would I fix that?

Having a D2 you need to use a series wiring.
Wire the + of the amp to the + of one coils + then wire the negative at that coil to the + of the other. Then connect the last terminal (which will be the second coils -) back to the amplifiers -

well i got it Fixed. I had it wired in series, but when i put it back in the positive terminal had fallen off. I felt real dumb when i found out, but i fixed it and it sounds great! Thanks for all the help!

id use a D2 but relocate the amp as well so it is not inverted
