pro5 or pro ES?

dude, manual is the way to go, i live in a snow state, all u got to do is learn what gear to be in, if u shoose auto, itz gonna pop up and down in the snow and cause u to lose traction, used to own a auto car, not a good thing lemme tell u, hence the "used" part... get a P5 more weight so u donyt slip n slide and manual so u can control the car

The ES has the black guages, the white faced guages on the P5 look much better, IMO.
Au contraire! I don't know why this is so confusing to people, but 01+ Protege ES has the SAME INTERIOR as the Protege 5. The Protege 5 is essentially an ES wagon. The 5 gets the white gauges, red backlighting, black interior, etc from the ES!

For me, the biggest difference is the lack of factory leather as an option on the sedan. Aside from that, get what you like! Drive them all. Then drive them again. You have to like it. It really doesn't matter what we think.

And let us know what you decide :D

Thank you Nate...some people really do need to get their facts straight before listing differences between the ES and P5. People are confusing the ES with the DX and LX proteges which are quite different. Like you said, the ES and P5 are virtually identical. A quick visit to www.mazdausa.com will help them become educated.

the p5 is definately more sporty and sexy looking.
go with the manual, it gives you better control and speed.

but of course not everyone can drive a stick...it takes skill and practice so its no use to tell some just to get one...it almost becomes an art form to drive a stick really well

some people will never be able to drive a stick properly anyway, i have a friend that drives mx3 and driving with this dude is just awful...lots of jerky starts and gear switching ..
thats not the way to dive a stick!

doesnt the p5 have extras like stabilizer bars etc ? for better cornering?

p5 all the way!

Dude it's all about apples and apples. Now you just need to choose Ganny Smith or Golden Delicious. It's just about looks man! Good luck. I hope you choose wisely...

p5

mine is an auto and im really starting to regret it. and god damn uclap5 keeps telling me "i told you so!!"

ah well im getting an awsome new job soon and when i have enough, i'll get a used manual p5:D

Either way you go it will be a kick ass car. I have an '03 P5 and my fiancee has an '02 ES so I can speak from experience. I also sell Mazda's and Pontiac's so I can tell you that the ES or the P5 is WAY better than the Vibe (or Matrix since they are the same car). Also, get a stick, you will regret it later if you don't, it is way more fun. My P5 and the ES are stick and you can really notice a difference between them and the auto versions.

Oops, my bad :D I guess I was thinking of my friend's older ES. But now remembering better, a 2002 LX I saw had the white faces. I should've known better

Yeah, get whatever you like...

...it just better be the manual, or else you'll regret it :D

14 to 4 I think the MP5 I beating the hell out of the ES. Why, I wonder, maybe becuause its ten times better looking?!

*putting heat shield up*

the P5 is looks sorta gay. An MSP or ES with a bodykit kills the P5 in looks IMO.

:D

add my vote for the ES.

well guys...i put my deposit on a 2003 p5 silver in color:
auto-wit sport shift
abs-side airbags
roof rack
subwoofer

out the door at about 16

:)

Yeah too bad they don't make a turbo mp5. Course then for the money I would probably buy a wrx. I own a 99 civic ex and a 03 mp5 so I can tell you the differance between the civic and mp5. Get the mp5 for practicality. If you want something to supe up then go with the civic ex but not anything above the 2000 model, anything higher and its not as fun. This is why I purchased a mp5 for a new vehicle, the new civics suck for performance. In the future I might do a turbo setup on the mp5 but I digress. The mp5 is a great car against everything in its price range. You get lots of room and excellent handeling that would cost you about 2k to do on the other cars in its price range. !6k is a great price. I got mine for under 16k with autostick and no sub or side airbags. Enjoy and maybe someday we will meet up.

I just bought 2, yes 2, 03 MP5's, one Vivid Yellow, the other White. Both manual, roof rack, sub/amp,Yellow has leather(this is the wife's car), the white is cloth.

I got both cars for 14k here is Dallas Tx.

This past Friday was my first day to drive to work and it was a blast... I keep thinking of what path has the most curves in it so that I can have fun!

My plans for my car(white one) is a Magnaflow Catback, and an intake system.
