Prince Valorum's 95 626 Build Thread

Nice updates Wes. Good to see/read that the shifter install is done. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys! Just got home from having the stone chip in the windshield repaired, also. It's still a bit visible, but it'll stop it form spreading, which was the main thing I was worried about.

Don't you just love coming across hidden gems like that!

My dad and I drove up to north of Detroit for a '69 Firebird rear axle I found on Craigslist a few years ago. Pulled up to the house, and there's a good size garage out back. Turns out, this is what the father-son team does in there!

A few weeks later I went to buy some '69 Camaro doors from someone in Macedonia on Craigslist. Guy had a huge attatched garage with a; fully restored '69 Camaro w/a 396c.i.,TKO600 6sp, tubular suspension, BBS 18/19's under a lift, on top was a 67 Impala all original, another bay had his wife's 69 Impala Station Wagon w/a Supercharged 502c.i., Taxi cab paint job, and air suspension, and out back in his detatched garage was an unrestored 63 Impala.

So yea, I know the "dumbfounded" feeling you guys had! hahaha

That's super cool, Josh. I want to have facilities like that when [if] I grow up. I'm still waiting on a miracle. :D

professionally? or the 10 dollar kit?

I went to Repair That Glass. I wasn't sure if they'd be able to do it, since it had spiderwebs from the initial impact, but the guy said it was good to go.

Thank you for pics! I'm sooooo jelly of your FD's. They look awesome. And I'm glad you got the shifter all straightened out. Now time for the ZE?

That fellows garage was awesome. They had a bunch of used turbos just all chillin on a shelf like they were empty candy wrappers. But that's one of the reasons when I'm selling something I just meet the buyer at a McDonalds or something. I don't want people scoping out my garage.

^Yeah, fo rizzle, I don't even have cool stuff in my garage and I don't want people poking around.

Next priority is to get the new (not new) sway bar on. I still need to weld up the for real brackets, but as usual, motivation is lacking. I need to get the truck ready for winter, too, as it's going to strike any day now...

That includes oil change, brake lines, rust repair, undercoating... FML

I forgot I took this pic at the guy's shop where I got the bushing machined. It's a Factory Five Racing Cobra kit car, with a Ford Racing crate motor. He said the motor alone was 10-11k, and is good for 452chp. He said to duplicate the car that he'd built there, it would take about 50k, because everything on it was new. It had 13" Vette brakes on the front, a giant rear sway bar, it was really all decked out. He started it up, and it was really a force to be reckoned with. I don't even like muscle, but it was very cool.

Also, today, test fit!

Ended up getting Evan's seats, huh?

And that's a nice Cobra replica! I always get irritated whenever I see one, because the VERY FIRST sentence out of everyone's mouths is always "Oh...I bet it's not a real Cobra." Like....so effing WHAT?! It's still a nicer/faster car than they'd probably ever own!

Just test fitting them, it's not final yet. I'm going to have to mod the brackets a bit to fit. The fronts bolt right in, but the rears are totally different. I'm mad I forgot my camera to take good pics.

Yeah, and if you had a real Cobra you know you'd be too scared to drive it and enjoy it. I know i would! :D

If you had the money to have a real Cobra, and something happened to it... it would just be pocket change. Hell, look at the people who still vintage race the old Ferraris. Cars worth mulit-million dollars, and they're out hashing it out, wheel to wheel... like they were meant to do.

A guy I work with built a FFR car. Got a ride in it one day at lunch. Fun cars for sure. Superior suspension designs compared to the originals too.

Superior suspension designs compared to the originals too.

As far as I'm aware, the original donor platform for the FFR's is the Fox box Stang, so the original suspension on the Cobras much be straight up awful, lol.

(Are you sure you wouldn't rather spend that money on something else right now?)

I'll take good care of them for you, no mystery stains. ;)

Donor platform, yes. but, there's 3 different suspension options for the 4th gen FFR Roadster. There's a 4 link, a 3 link, and IRS rear options. The 3 link is what they use in the NASA spec series with a larger panhard bar. Fronts use coilovers. On street tires, the cars are good for 1.0 G's on a skid pad. So... still better than almost any Mustang will put down.

Dropped the Yota off at Josh's a few days ago.

The frame in the front that looks like the lower rad support (I don't think it actually is) is really really far gone. It's the worst spot on the whole truck. I think I'm just going to get some new 2" square tubing and cut that old shiii out and weld some new in. Just gotta wait for my stupid .045 mig gun liner to come in, Airgas has really been taking their sweet time getting it to me... (unamused)

Josh's baller garage

This was hiding under the front fender. It's still pretty solid, so he's just going to clean it up and then sand blast it.

I want to do bedliner on the sides as rocker panel chip guard type stuff, and I think it'll turn out awesome.

Should be something like this in a few weeks, with blacked out stuff. Yeah.. I tried to hold out on modding it, but you know me.... :D

looking good! and good that you're doing this before all the wintery salt.

omg, there's a FJ parked in my apt. carports, good gods! it's AMAZING!!! i'll have to get a pic of it!

ZE build money being spent on an expensive paint job for your winter truck. I don't get it. But i also don't get the whole truck thing. Regardless, I'm sure it will look really nice when it's all done.

How do they get the OEM decals off? I assume you just sand them off when prepping for paint?

Damn, my garage looks dark as hell. lol

And hot DAMN Wes, that torpedo heater works flippin AWESOME! I turned it on, went back out there 10 mins later, and it was totally comfortable in there! Metal temp was still a little cold, but I can work with it. It just smells like Kerosene out there now. lol

Got the Acetylene today too, so I'm gonna get the rest of the bed bolts out, and then get the side glass' out.
