Premium gas

91 is ok too. I hope, because it is hard to find 93 in when i live.

yes it is, thats what we got out here in cali too =(
though octane booster isn't a bad idea if you can afford it, but it is not necessary at all

Race gas runs at cooler temps and has other anti-knock properties which allow you to safely turn up the boost without detonation (with supporting mods). I'm pretty sure you would have to tune at that point. But in our case with a boosted protege (stock block) the rods will break with too much boost no matter how how high of an octane you are running. But at stock boost or close to it 91 - 93 octane should do just fine.

+1

however be careful....if you are running catalytic converters then be sure you run race gas that is NOT leaded! most race gas from gas pumps or sold in tanks at gas stations are unleaded (at least they are around here) and it will almost always say whether or not it is....but if you run leaded race gas through multiple tanks you will ruin your cats....one tank isn't gonna kill them, but I really really don't recommend doing it unless you put a test pipe on

yes you need to run premium in all turbod cars and its an FS engine code. kzle i believe. its a v6

Just to back track for a sec, so there is a possible replacement engine that is a V6?.. there other things youd need to change out to use this, other than maybe a tune?.. and would the engine preformance be much different, or just stick with v4 (i meant 4cyl. thanks Ser lol) engine with built parts if your going to replace the engine.?

V4? where is a V4 i have never in my life seen a V4 lol.... my girl friend called a 4cyl a V4 for a while i had to correct her just like i will do the same with you (not to be a jack ass but to save you from humiliation) man its called a 4cyl.

haha, ok, ya i just generalized them as the same, but thanks lol, so.. a v4 is really a 4 cyl. and a v6/v8 are the same or are they 6cyl./8cyl also?.. and is that true about the v6 being a possible replacement engine?, or does it require some more internal work with the engine bay and parts for it to work? Thanks for the clear up

there are 6cyl and v6's it has to do with the shape of the block. no there is no v6 that would just drop in. it would take a HUGE amount of work. a v 8 is called that cause the block is in a shape of a V four pistons on each side same thing with a V6. now a 6 cyl is just 6 pistons in a straight line. i hope that makes sence.

its a fair bit of work but not impossible at all

if you don't know the difference between a 4 cylinder, v6, v8, straight 6, etc... then I would say that is probably not the project youd want to take up

it also costs a couple thousand to source the motor/tranny/ecu/wiring harness/etc...

OO, haha ya i had thought that it would always take a lot of work to switch engine's like that, which is why i was so surprised, but ya i had known that there were different types but i had thought that there were v6's and then like straight6 but they are both 6cyl. but ok ya thanks for that, i had just generalized them all as the same thing but always learning new things! lol, im really knew to the car thing kinda,

i bought this car in April and before then i wouldn't touch anything on my old cars (mostly because there wasn't really any place i could learn about it and i didn't bother trying to find out) other than the electrical stuff that has to do with subs/amps/decks/speakers.. but its great being able to know whats actually going on with my car now mostly.

there is a v4 out there. if you were wondering....

true. the only one i have seen is on a the new yamaha vmax. a bike that produces more hp than most of your guys msp.

yeah but it might beable to put down more numbers but can it look as fly as a msp rolling down the road I THINK NOT!!!!

just to clarify

our engine code is FS-DET

when he says klze here he means that is a possible swap

YES you have to run premium, they don't put the warning on the inside of your gas cap cover for no reason lol....you run less and boost, you are just asking to hit predetonation and snap your rods.....just a warning, be careful with this car, she will treat you right if you treat her right

DET stands for detonation......

haha V4 engine. Never heard of one used in a car. V is the shape of the engine. There is also H and L.

5 cylinders
Inline-5

6 cylinders
V6
Inline-6
Flat-6

8 cylinders
V8
Inline-8

I am not cheap, i am poor.
If I get a Mazdaspeed, i will barely afford the car.
I would probably have about $50 after the monthly payment and insurance and I drive 210 miles per week so premium gas is an issue.

I have seen 96 in Philly at Sunoco.

And Premium gas is 50 cents more expensive than regular and 20 more than mid grade.
