ALOT of the reflash equipment that is out does not let you actually control every aspect of the ecu. If it did STANDALONES would not exist.
The EVO community does reflashes. But it is limited to what can be done with the stock parameters. Increasing or decreasing algorythms in the stock base tables helps. But It doesn't add new software. Just allows some correction. The program still has to see the engine parameters within spec.
For minor mods it will help, but I wouldn't count on any real power levels. A flasher does not give you complete tunability.

The fact of the matter is I'm not saying it wont help for minor modifications. But just like the Mitsu and Suby market the Piggybacks are still used in conjunction for a reason. They dont give complete control to the enduser. Some think that with just the base fuel mapping you can say you have complete control. But that is about 1% of it. The internal code must be broken so that further SCALING can me done.
IMHO opinion I just dont know how much that type of mod is worth. Thats all.
As far as the standalones are concerned the EEC systems that have been tuned in the past are the EEC4 NOT 5. They, the EEC tuner, were used on pre 96 vehicles with good success. Again not perfect.
We shall see how they make out on the V.
The standalone market flourishes because they give the most powerful tuning tool to the enduser. You can actually go into closed loop 100% of time while driving if need be and still have all around great performance. With the addition of WB sensors that accurately account for A/F ratios and complete tunability, the enduser can account for anything. Any weather conditions, boost pressure, fuel etc. The reflash systems are only as good as the original programming.

I have written to superchipscustoms and it is most likely going to work for this application and they have done other mazdas before . if you speak to anyone who has used the proracer setup on a mustang or lightning you find that this is going to give you control of everything including my escort has vct variable cam timing and this setup gives you control of that or of the IAC idle air valve etc... it is very good setup especially for the price.
This flasher allows to tell the computer what you want it to look for . It gives you full and complete tunability. Ford guys have the worst computers for relearning programming and we have the same setup . I am a ford owner and tuner (lightning) and a technician . Trust me when I say this setup is the s***!!
very cool . This community doesnt realize the biggest set back for us is the enginemanagement area. the more options we have the better. Im all for better enginemanagement options.keep up the good work all who are giving to this community. Also people should realize this is a very new turbo application out and so far aftermarket is moving along pretty good just be patient and more options will arise.
