I posted a couple weeks ago about my radio being locked by the security code. Everybody said call the dealer or Kenwood and then the thread was locked. Well I called the dealer where I bought the car (used lot, but they also own a Mazda dealership) and they gave me a line about having to hook up to the ECM and pull some code off the radio, call Mazda, then get the unlock code. How does that work on a Kenwood aftermarket stereo? I know he's full of crap so today I called Kenwood. They suggested taking it to my local Kenwood service center. I called them, they said bring it by. I drove an hour to the shop and then they said they had to have the radio in hand and get inside it to reset the code(??). I left mad and figured why spend the money on their service if I can do this myself. If someone can help me out, please PM me. I have been without tunes for over 2 weeks now and I can't stand it anymore!

I know ther eis like a universal way to deactivate the damn thing but I always forget how. Someone at a kenwood dealer might know. To say they have to pull the radio out to know is untruth or atleast incorrect.

I need this too please ..... i put in a code 8 months ago and never used it and yesterday, had an amp and sub installed (along with gages, EBC, TT) and when they put the battery back on to test the radio, guess what ?

i have no radio until i figure out how to go around that security code. I will try to call Kenwood today. Last night, i drove 45mins to go to my dealership only to be told they couldnt help me.

please help me, im desperate =)

talked to my audio manager at work. (kenwood dealer) he said yes you have to bring it to a kenwood dealer. they have to pull the headunit out of the car and put in through some bench testing with the proper tools and you can get the code back. he also says it's not a very diffucult process and most places might not even charge you anything to do it.
