picture needed: floor mat tab

Can someone out there take a picture of the driver side floor tab that holds the driver's rubber mat from sliding forward? I need one and my dealer ordered me one but it doesn't seem like the right part. I don't know how this little plastic thing he got me would attach... me thinks he made an error.

Can someone send me a pic of one in their Mazda 5 so I can see what it's supposed to look like?

Thanks in advance.

If you have manual transmission, don't get it. It keeps the floor mat at a location where it catches on the clutch all the time, really annoying and potentially dangerous. I took it out and threw it away.

I dont have a pic handy, but in my 2009, it is metal, not plastic. It is basically a thin (about 3/4 inch wide by 1/16 inch thick by 4 inches long) strip of metal that is bent to fit the floor pan. At one end, it screws down to the floor pan through the carpet. At the other end, it has a short post (with a small ball at the top) sticking up that goes through the hole in the floor mat to hold the mat in place.

No probs w/my mat & a clutch. Since it attaches to the floor below the driver's seat, it will sit flat on the floorpan where the post is that holds the carpet. It then bends 90 degrees as it rises to the ridge under the front of the seat, then bends 90 degrees again so it can fasten to it. Oh, and mine is black to blend into the black carpet.

Yeah, yours sounds exactly like what I was expecting. What me dealer got me was a plastic hook connected to 2 flat inch long pieces.... the service tech at Mazda was scratching his head and saying that he didn't think it was the right piece. He was right.

no problem on mine, never had the clutch catch on the mat. maybe yours isn't installed in the correct spot?
I used to have a saturn L200 w/ a clutch, and that mat would catch the pedal. I got in the habit of pulling the mat rearwards whenever I got in the car.

As far as the mat catching the clutch, I’m not the only one (from another thread):
I've got the winter mats and the grommet with the metal post doesn't work. The little metal post keeps coming out and the carpet constantly slides under the clutch.

Very bad engineering.

Hmm, I have a MT 5 with the the original floor mats and the tab. It has never caused the floor mats to interfere with any of the pedals. If ti did that I think we'd be up for a massive recall!!

floor mats that constantly slide under pedals are a user issue. Stop pushing on the mat with your feet and the issue is resolved!

The issue was that the floormat was catching the top of the clutch (going over the top of the clutch slightly) when you depressed the clutch. Not every time, but often enough to be a problem. If the floor mat was further back, or forward, it wouldn't catch. The hook was keeping the floormat at the exact right place to catch the clutch. This was on an '09 Sport.

So I took it out and haven't had any problems since. The picture that I posted above is from somebody else's Mazda5.
