Paint Colors GT

:
2017 CX-5 GT AWD
My 2017 GT lease is just about up and good deals on 2020s available.

Curious if anyone knows whether Mazda is adding any new colors for 2021? I feel Mazda doesn't update their color portfolio often.

seems like an official statement from Mazda is not quite out yet for the CX-5. most sites are parroting the same generic information. example:

"The facelift will refresh the new Mazda CX-5. In 2021 we will see a larger grille and air vents. New colors are also on the way. "

Ain't that no s*** another shade of gray. You'd think that Mazda would get it thru their head that color sells cars too.At least the big 3 offer nicer colors.Where are the nice shades of blue, green and champagne-like colors.Or sporty yellows and oranges or whatever.Color catches the eye in addition to styling.I think they'd definitely sell to more women(and men too).It seems like they are locked into this mindset where they have to be "upscale" to compete with the higher tiers and selling more cars is secondary.
While I'm on a rant here, how many of you folks thought the CX-3 was going to be a flop.I'll tell ya,when I sat in one and saw how cramped it was,the "fun" colored& styled interior that was more at home in a little Fiat or european mini car and the high price tag,I figured their design and marketing team needed to go back to the drawing board.
Does Mazda even solicit input from the dealers and public as to what people want.I love my CX-5 but it still makes ya got to wonder.Rant over.

It seems a number of other makes offer a very limited color selection but some are "breaking the mold" with more colors.
I like to think color choice doesn't affect me but it probably does at least a little.

I was considering a top of line CX5 untill I sat in one. Black trim, dark seats, black headliner. What were they thinking when they did this to a compact $30,000+ vehicle. I also think they must have gotten a real deal on Black leather and fabric. Guess they spend all the money on the new designer red paint. Ed

I had a 2013 with a beautiful shade of blue. Saw one other with the same color, and never saw that color again.

Speaking of marketing, I think the colors could have more creative names too. Do you want to tell your neighbors that your car is "Snowflake White" or "Machine Gray"? BMW X3 equivalent is "Alpine and "Dark Graphite".

I take it you are not a fan?

I like my 2014 Soul red with a sand/grey interior. Seems light and airy inside compared to sitting in a small dark box. So yes I am not a fan of dark and darker. MAZDA might take a clue for the new RDX. Ed

Usually other brands offer 3 interior color choices. Most customers can pick a lighter interior color, such as gray for my preferred silver exterior, if they want lighter interior. But Mazda offers 2, most likely a totally black interior for every exterior color. It’s hard to have lighter color interior for those who don’t like sitting in a totally dark environment, and black interior makes cabin really hot in the summer. Now the Signature with black ceiling that would make things even worse.

I don't mind the esthetics of the black interior. Maybe it is elegant. I find it hard to see or find things because it's so pitch dark inside.

Plus a tan interior matches coffee spills😁

Yes, I remember the first time I got into the back seat of a 2016 CX-5 with totally black interior in the showroom while I was doing the car shopping, I couldn’t see the inside for a couple of seconds and have to wait a bit. Eventually we settled for a Sonic Silver with black interior which is the first totally black interior for all the vehicles we have owned. I sure hope Mazda would offer the third color for interior such as gray which is available from all other competitors such as Honda CR-V、Toyota RAV4、and Nissan Rogue.
