Pablo's 2004 MSM Build

I'm 6', if I sit straight up like on the 3 the I would touch the top without a helmet, I actually haven't put it on while in this car... but I now have a couple of inches of clearance, guess I'll give it a try tonight

O wow...I wonder if I'd fit, I'm 6'2". My good friend just got a white 95 Miata (I talked him into getting one and he loves it) and my head is 4-5 inches from the top. Do you know if the 1st gen sits lower? Come to think of it...I have really long legs and a shorter torso, so maybe that's the reason.

I'll have to get my friend on the forums. His Miata has a tan top with tan leather interior (the interior is in amazing condition for 130k miles). The first time he turned on the radio, he turned up the volume too much and scared the s*** out of both of us...there's speakers in the seat's head rests haha.

If anything I think NB's sit lower. With OE seats without the foamectomy I have to severely slouch to fit with a helmet on and the top up. It's quite uncomfortable.

how tall are you? I've only sat in an NA once but didn't really pay attention since the top was down. I'm actually finding myself trying to relax and sit up right since I got used to being slouched. I haven't taken a long trip yet but so far my knees don't hurt so I definitively have a better driving position

6'1". Without a helmet on I can sit in the car with slouching but my head might be extremely close to the top.

I'm currently working on my third revision of getting my Sparcos low enough so that I'm actually below the roll bar the correct amount while still retaining the stock seat mounting holes. (Helmet on)

I'd like to check out your car and see how your seat feels, I read that the Corbeau FX-1 is not that comfortable for DD so I'm looking for other options/set ups

Absolutely!

Currently, my seats are living in my office with my track tires (much to my fiancee's displeasure :D).

Once I get my next seat bracket situation figured out we can put the seat in your car and you can test it out for real if you want. I'm not sure that I'm going to feel real motivated to put the seats back in my car that is going to be in hibernation mode until April. :D

As far as the comfort of mine, I like them much better than stock. When I switched back to the stock seats for the two months before I put the car away I instantly regretted it. The only place where the stock seats have an advantage is they soften the bumps a bit when compared to the Sparcos.

HA! Like comfort and DD have any place in the vocabulary of some of the folks on here.

haven't been here in a while...

the all seasons turned out to be a bad idea, I could not get good traction on Saturday which I considered to be a mild fall. Got Blizzaks from Fez and put them on the stockers, 205/50/17. The front left rubs a bit under full lock to the right (I guess due to my weight) and also on a few bumps. Looks a bit weird and the sidewalls make the ride a bit stiff, but already drives better. Needles to say it's pretty dirty right now, I'll try to wash it on Friday and post a pick of winter mode

Saturday was deceiving for sure. The roads just looked wet, but we must've passed a few dozen people in ditches while coming back from Detroit.

True enough. I was slipping while walking around the hotel at the wedding I was at. Had to be the mixture of the crap falling. When I left the wedding though, it wasn't bad.

alright, time for an update and some opinions: I'm getting wheels in a couple of months and I can't make up my mind

Kosei (silver, maybe white) 15x8, 15lbs

6UL (I'd go for black) 15x8 or 15x9, 12.7lbs

what I'd really like are these, I believe they're ROTAs but no idea on the model. They're 16' and I assume heavy

Rota Boost? or Grid? Not quite sure, the spokes look too wide to be boost, but not wide enough to be the grids!

Hmmm you've been known to have baller status wheels--I love the look of the Rotas, but c'mon man! If you are okay with nonballer wheels, then I think XXR finally has a decent lineup with their 522s and 527s. Check them out.

I like the Rotas, Koseis, then "played out LOL" 6ULs in that order. Just pick a nice color to go with that sparkly grey!

I have thought about the 522s, they loked good at the Mitty but they don't look as good in the pic. Definitively the cheapest option, 15x8 18lbs... ouch

I've also considered painting them, mostly based on this pic. I like the contrast of both colors, even though the silver is lighter than mine

I like my Kosei wheels on my rx7 they have held up well to track day use and cleanup easily. But I am more of an old school guy I would rather run a set of BBS mesh wheels with black centers and a polished lip.

yeah, not too fond on the BBS mesh style. The white ones are ROTAs, Grid Drift is the model, 16x8.

"Rota Grid Drift 16x8 , Yoko S-Drive 195/45
F: +3et (10et + 7mm spacers)
R: +5et (10et + 5mm spacers)
Heavy rolled and slightly pulled fenders for much clearance"
- taked from CR

Haven't been able to find the weight and it seems they're not easy to find a set that fits a miata
