I donno about you guys.. but I for one LOVE oregon... I mean who wouldn't? We get rain every day.. all day... pretty much non stop since jan 1st... Might have been some sun here or there while i was gone for 3 weeks in cali.. but I highly doubt it...

Get pulled over in cali doin 145 on the freeway.. CHP yells at you for a bit.. tells you to slow down.. and lets you go... (true story)

Get pulled over for doing 71 in a 65 here... get ticket... lose license after 5 tickets... and for every ticket after...

Window tint? They love it here! I mean, anything darker than 35% anywhere... = warnings and tickets every chance they get...

Someone gets tabbed? Girlfriend gets ***** at a party? Better find yourself a gun.. and go lookin.. cause Corvallis / OSP... are busy with the traffic... no time to worry about real crimes...

I suppose if you like rain... trees... and living in middle of BFE with almost nothing "going on" This is the place for you!

On another note....

www.osucarclub.com

If you are in the corvallis, eugene, salem area... check this out... They've had some recent leadership trouble and people come and go from the school... but things are being worked out...

And the more members.. the better!

I love the rain, it saves on my water bill, I carry a bar of soap in my pocket for showering.
Tires slide easier and they last longer.
Provides a steady rinse while washing the car.
Lots of rain and trees provide plenty of gutter cleaning entertainment.
When a cop pulls you over you can fumble around for you registration and license for a long time to ensure he gets good and soaked.
There are plenty more reasons to love th NW and rain. We also have some of the most fantastic Natl. Forests.
Yes we do seem to lack a little on the car scene sometimes but how about Rally Cross?

Don't forget the Nation's highest rate of Seasonal Depressional Disorder, coupled with Seasonal Depressional suicides.

Also we have the highest rate IN THE WORLD for MS in women 25-44 years old.

The Willamette river is one of the dirtiest rivers in the US.

The highest homeless rate in the US.

Portland is conviniently located between a cold ass mountain and a cold ass beach.

Portland Police were required to modify thier Glocks to "slow down the rate of fire" when shooting people after two cops shot a lead pipe yeilding psychotic patient 89 times on the steps of the PGE building downtown.

Two off duty Portland police nearly beat a man to death in front of a bar downtown because he was gay - and they weren't fired until 18 months later.

A Portland cop choked a Veitnam Marine Corp Vet to death, when the Vet had foiled a robbery at a 7-11 and was holding the robber down when the cops arrived. The cops assauted him because he was black and they assumed he was the robber. They later sold tee shirts that had a picture of a gun and a caption that said "Don't Smoke 'em, Choke 'em" at police functions.

Every Friday afternoon you could go up to the Veitnam Memorial and drink beer with the city mayor - Bud Clark - before he wobbled off on his bike back downtown to his second job - bar owner.

One of the Nation's highest Methamphetamine problems.

One of the worst State assisted Healthcare systems - Oregon Health Plan - that incidently still owes severl hundred million dollars to Physicians that treated OHP patients over the past five years.

Remember when they pulled millions of dollars from the Oregon schools to try to bail out the OHP? I had to donate money to my son's school so they could buy math books. The football program is running strong though.

Wonderful residents here like Ken and Dave Metzger - leaders of the Aryian Nation. Ken is in jail (almost out for good behavior) for organizing and ordering three skinheads to beat an Ethiopan man to death for no reason.

Mayor Vera Katz spent 30 million on a boardwalk overlooking said dirty river then spends $20,000 a month fixing damage done by skateboarders each month.

Now she wants to move I-5 freeway to the other side of the river at a cost of "nearly $3 billion dollars" for what reason?

But we do have Rally Cross. Oh yeah, we have the Hemp Fest in Eugene too.

Welcome to tolerant Oregon.

and how many micro breweries so we can mull over the good times?

*This reminds me of something....

You remember that whole 'smoke free class of 2000' campaign a few years back? Must have been like 15 years ago. The whole brainwashing thing like DARE....

Back when I was (I think) a freshman in good old Tillamook one of those news shows (like 20/20 or something) wanted to do a follow up on the "class of 2000" kids. They were on campus and followed people around for a week or so. They interviewed on such topics as sex, drugs, relationships, daily life, etc. When the show aired a few months later the town was exploited as the teen pregnancy capital of the US. It was kinda funny they duped us, but kinda pissed off some girls who were nationally made out to look like sluts. David Letterman even commented on it during one of his shows.

So lets add the teen pregnancy thing to the list of goodness.

*I'm surprised the strip club thing wasn't brought up.

*33 breweries? Dang... I've hit like 5% of that. Well, I know what I'm doing this summer.

*I also am not a fan of the rain... I don't see myself staying here forever. I'm sure I'll be moving after I finish school.

Do you have a list w/ cities?

I'm thinking that might make for a good 'photography' series. hmmmm

Ooh, how about the anti-Bush protesters and the police who mace them, and the bicycle brigade that comes out every year, Sexual Harassment charges against Elementary School kids and a string of Police Chief's who manage a minimum of 1-2 "scandals" through-out their typically short tenure.
Every place has a plethora of problems significantly related to the population and education level of said area.
There are plenty of good things about Oregon.
Who else has 33 breweries that don't make watery beer!!!

Man I miss Oregon! So much exciting stuff going on! There may be a lot of rain but you can't beat the mountains. Ohio sucks but then again i don't get tickets for going 6 over so maybe it's not all bad.
(Use to live in Corvallis, Eugene, Roseburg, Yakima WA)

I'd doubt a lot of those "most of..." or "highest" as there are a lot of other cities and states with tuns more ppl and a lot worst problems...

But basically yeah... Don't like oregon. It's nice once in a while.. lately i'm loving it... But, there is NOTHING to do.. in the town of corvallis... unless you are a drunken alchie... who attends nightly bar / house parties... You sit at home.. or play frisbee... There are no "clubs" worth a darn... No non-drinking entertainment... Comedy shows / clubs... concerts... car shops (gatherings)...

Like someone said earlier. get out of eugene / corvallis... Easier said than done... I'm workin on it though... I'm thinkin bend is a good place to visit for a while.. get back on my feet!

Yeah Bend is cool if you like to live with Californians. Oops did I say that

I know Vera Katz isn't Mayor anymore, but you etiquette says that even though Bush is in office, Clinton is still referred to as "Mr. President." She was the Mayor with the dumb ideas though.
