Opinions on a Carbon Fiber Look..

no, that is not. the evo hood has vents on it like an evo... basically flat, and somewhat triangular shaped, like the one in outlawstar's sig.
so basically the consensus is that the CF hoods does not really reduce weight but just have the "good looks" factor to it except when it starts to fade due to poor maintenance? am i correct? I personally don't like the evo hood but i only saw pics but i'm not sure if i want just a plain cf hood or vented...
it DOES reduce weight, but not by enough to call it a performance gain.. and yes, eventually CF starts to go to hell if not properly protected and cared for.

so if maintained properly, it should last me for a while then right...as long as there are things that i can use or do to protect it...then i'm getting one...so which company made the one that pic i quoted...

thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll just leave it and have it slam the trunk open w/o the wing... oh well.

Originally, I left the springs in (because I was too lazy to fight to get them out) after getting my CF trunk. They pushed the edges of the trunk (near the rear windshield) up REALLY high. So high, in fact, that people would ask me what was wrong with my trunk. If that weren't enough, during a moment of absent-mindedness, I hit the trunk release with those springs in place and my car did it's darndest to launch my trunk over my hood and into the street. They lifted the trunk with such force that they actually tore out one of my screws that held the trunk on... I mean ripped it clean out of the CF.

I took the springs out the following weekend... (boom01)

yeah, I'm just wingless on a steel trunk so I can still get away with it... CF, no way.

All you guys need is one of those weighted bean bags that you tie around your wrists, ankles er w/e when you work out, tie it to the back side of the trunk, it will great reduce the throwing power.

^ I hate the look of hood pins... o.O Even those "aero" ones. But I, too, have wondered about installation as I'm not sure if I want to take the plunge or not.

drilling holes in your hood and your core support... no thanks.

It's the holes in the hood that I wouldn't want to do myself. Core support will be fine, lol... (peep)

Thats why I made sure to get a quality hood that would have no issues with simply using the factory hood latch.

My vis was a bit stubborn when I first got it, but after a few open and closes, it grab easy and held just like the stocker :)

the DG is designed to hold a little tighter on the latch, so takes a lil doing to get it latched down. released just fine for the half hour it was on my car though.
