Opinions on a Carbon Fiber Look..

damn so i would have to drill the holes myself? hmmm, i might have to reconsider that option

the DG is designed to hold a little tighter on the latch, so takes a lil doing to get it latched down. released just fine for the half hour it was on my car though.

The latch is adjustable with three 10mm bolts holding it. Any hood can be made to latch tighter, it's just a matter of loosening those 3 bolts and moving the latch assembly slightly down.

I'm aware of the adjustability on the latch (had to use it after my corolla had a fender bender), however what I read was the the DG did this on purpose for a tighter fit.

^ they could have possibly shortened the latch hook on the hood itself. I prefer to leave ours with the stock lenght and let the end user decide how they would like it to latch, since the adjustability option is there.

I would tend to agree. I don't particularly like it when people make decisions for me. lol

As far as hood pins go, we state they must be used for liability reasons. What you do in the end is up to you. I can tell you however that I personally do not use them, but I also can't go as far as making that a recommendation to everyone because that would defeat our statement that they should be used lol. If it makes anyone feel better, our latch hooks are riveted on and not screwed on like most other manufactures.

since I'm under no liability here, I'll put it this way:

if you don't use hood pins, you run the risk of the hood latch coming apart and flying up, and you dying... etc.

however the likelyhood of this is SO slim that, other than the legal disclaimer that a certian (not to be named of course) carbon hood manufacuturer is forced to give for insurance reasons, you don't need hood pins.

I've got an XC hood and I was cocerned about hood pins, but the rivets are holding just fine. I get a little flutter at higher speeds (which I attribute the the air entering through the grill and battering the substantially lighter-than-stock hood) but not enough for me drill holes through it to hold it down...

dude, i got a spicy orange with a lot of CF, check it out in my garage man, maybe it will help you decide...?

i dont feel that the vis hoods hold up well, i have one on my msp when i bought it, its in terrible condition, the resin had cracks in it and was faded and yellowed, im guessing the hood was about 5 years old or so but still when paying $500 for a cf hood it should remain in good condition for quite sometime, so ill probably either paint the whole hood or replace with a stock hood and purchase a high quality cf hood later down the road

^carbon fiber is a b**** to keep from not yellowing MAINLY when you dont keep it covered and/or garaged alot. Im lucky my car is almsot always under something.

What I did was I sanded my carbon fiber parts down, and added a black candy clear coat over it so hopefully it will never return to being yellow. I don't know how it will look long term but it's my thinking that it should never turn yellow again since the black pigment in the clear coat should cover any changes.

where did you find the evo 8 wing for sale? i've been searching for quite sometime and the best result i could find is the elixer style and a universal TRD wing.

I know this is an old thread that was bumped....... But I have 3/4's of what they were going for.......All except for the roof cap (no money)
