oil change

ok, i know everyone here will tell me to do it myself, but my car needs to get its oil changed right now and i dont have the time to do it, so im gonna take it to like a jiffy lube. i got the car used and its got about 12k miles on it right now, should i have to ask them to use a certain type of oil or anything?

check hotcoupons.com and print yourself out a $15 oil change,
many places take competitors coupons

:)

hehe can't advise you in the scientific area...

I brought mine in to Jiffy Lube for the same reason not too long ago. The guy was doing his little computer data-entry thing and was going to enter my P5 in as an SUV! I had to tell him "no, it's a car." Take that for what you may.

I've only taken my P5 to get an oil change once. Brought it back to the dealer so they could loosen the oil filter. It's on sooooo tight from the factory that I just couldn't loosen it myself.

Other than that, I do my own oil changes but I don't bother wasting money on the synthetic motor oil. I use Mobil1 10W-30 oil and a FRAM Extra Guard (PH6607) oil filter.

I dunno about that combination--- good oil with lousy filter. Even if the Extra Guard is the best of the Fram filters, the consensus over at bobistheoilguy.com is that you can do way better for around the same price.. Go with a Purolator or NAPA and you get a filter that does a better job of... filtering.

I was told when I picked up my P5 that it uses 5W or 10W-20. When I looked at my dipstick I could barely see the oil its so thin.

Agreed, I believe in the test that they ran, the Wal-Mart brand Super-tech (or whatever it is) did quite a bit better than the Fram.
