Can u guys help me out?? im about to have an oil change soon..... well my dealer told me to get my first oil change at 8000km ... im at 7200 right now...

and i was hearing some guys talking about synthetic oil...... can anyone be nice enuf to explain to me what synthetic oil is? and how it is different from the normal oil?? which is better? which kind to get? how often would i have to change oil? Thz

Don't bother with synthetic oil just change your oil more often.

Synthetic only is for (Corvettes) high performance engines.

I worked at a GM dealership and the Corvettes had to have Synthetic oil so that it could lub the cylinder head.

I recommend Castrol GTX oil.

Hope this help.

I was just wondering if you got the Clear tail lights on your Mp3 because my friends tell me that they saw one in Surrey with it.

Actually you don't have to change your oil more often with dino oil...

Synthetic is non-dino oil. They don't exploit dead dinosuars to get it.

Here's the deal, synthetic is thinner cold than dino oil is, so you get better flow when the engine is cold. That is supposed to mean les strain on the parts becuase the oil will get there quicker on a cold start. That is about it.

I just saw an article from Consumer reports and they put just about every oil made in a bunch of taxi's, like 64. 32 of them they changed oil at 3000. The other half they changed at 6000. I forgot the total mileage on the cars when they finished, but the tore down the motors and measured everything.

There was no difference between cars that were changed at 6000 or 3000, or between the various oil companies they used. everything was still the same in all 64 cabs.

So, if you want to use synthetetic use it. Mobil 1 is supposed to be good. If you want use dino oil, use it. Synthetic isn't just for high performance cars.

Personally, I'm going to use Mobil 1 syntehtic in my car every 5000 miles until I'm out of my warranty, then I'll probably wait longer.

Plus, if they use it Corvettes, and Porsches, and BMW's, it's good enough for my car, I know it certainly won't hurt..

I work in delta and I am in Richmond sometimes.

I have seen 4 other Mp3 in Vancouver but I am the only one in Abbotsford.

I havn't seen any in Richmond so many your the only one.

If you want to meet up and start a Mp3 club here in Vancouver let me know.

I change my our religiously every 3000 miles. It usually depends on what kind of driving I do. Most dealer manuals say every 6000 miles, but they don't take into consideration what kind of driving is being done, what the climate is in your area. All that stuff, If I was to change my our every 6000 miles, I would be running low on oil and the oil would be jet black.

I use castrol or mobile synthetic 5W-50 every 3000 miles. Why? I don't know. I have used to do this from my MX-6 till MP3 since 1992. :D
