Oil change question

In process of changing the oil for the first time (CX-7) everything went well except...where does the small o-ring go.
I can't seem to locate the location of the old one and put in the new one from the kit.

Thanks in advance for your help, MW.

Sorry have yet to do this to mine.

O-rings tipically go on caps like where you put the oil in or on the drain plug.

It must be the drain plug o-ring. The plug itself did not have one on it when I took the plug out, maybe the o-ring is attached to the pan?
Anyways the change is done, no leaks, I'll take a closer look at the pan hole at the next change.

The small O ring is used for the brass drain plug on the cap of the oil filter. If you didn't drain the filter before removal of the filter cap then there is no need for the small O ring.

There is also a aluminum crush washer on the pan drain plug that should be changed each time but most everyone over look this as they seem to hold okay even after multiple uses.
