Official P5 wheel thread.

I am running 16x7 with a +45 offest with 205/50/16's and no problems at all. But I will only be running this setup for two more weeks. Soon it will be 16x6.5 with a +55 offset, also with 205/50/16's. :D

Meh....looks like I will be running the Tribute wheels for a little longer.

Guy I was buying the wheels from backed out of the sale due to an accident and his employer made him put his stockers back on before taking the car to the body shop.

Jeff, why would you want 16x6.5 with 55 offset?

I have always liked that wheel style, they are 16 (vs 17 don't have the money right now to be buying wheels/tires/suspension) and they aren't heavy like some 16's I have been finding in my search.

I am guessing if I did run this setup I would want some spacers....no?

Maybe, stock offset is 50. I had a similar setup that you do now with the Rota's 16*7 with 45 offset. Only had to roll the driver's side's side.

How much does the current setup weigh? I'm not a fan of spacers. Your just adding more weight.

Interesting that you had to roll your fender....I have had no rubbing issues. I do forget if you were lowered though.

My current setup is approx 37-38lbs (17-18 for the wheels and 20 for the tires).

The Miata wheels weigh in at 15lbs (from what I have found online) and the tires (Advan A11A - stock on the Miata) are 22lbs.

Initially there will be no difference but when I replace tires I can save a couple more lbs per corner.

Interesting. But if you use spacers that will cut that loss a bit.

What Miata are the rims from? A NC?

True about the weight that is why I am hoping no spacers will be needed. And yes they are the NC 16's.

As a further update, the guy selling them agreed to sell them as we initially agreed and they are in route now! Woot.

Can someone clarify exactly when one would need to use hubcentric/lugcentric rings? I've always been puzzled when this subject is brought up as I never really know why they're needed.

A lot of aftermarket wheels will be made with a larger-than-normal center hub so they can be installed on a range of different cars. A lot of different makes have different hub bores (Proteges are 67.1 mm, IIRC) but by having a larger hub and then including the proper hibcentric ring, which simulates a smaller hub bore, then the aftermarket wheel will fit on any car assuming it has the appropriate bolt pattern.

So are these rings included whenever someone purchases aftermarket wheels if the hub bore is bigger than the car it's going on?

From my experience, most wheel sellers dont include the rings with the wheels, but if it's a shop or online store they should be able to get them, just make sure you know what size you need.

Here are a few pics that show my new wheels a little better(they are kind of dirty though):
