Official 2009 USDM Mazda6 thread

As of right now there are no official plans to build a new MS6, and that's right out of the factory. Not saying that it won't come in 2010 or 2011, but it's not being focused on at this point.

There's plans, and it's gonna happen baby (humpleg)

As for the interior of the new 6.... I don't like those square AC vents, I hope they stick with the tried and true circular, so you can point them in ANY direction.

How can Mazda have the new Mazda6 mimic BMW with the 3 series model range without a wagon and a high performance model?

Just like I said...nothing official yet. Not saying it doesn't exist in the pipeline. I'll see what other rocks I can turn over.

The Mazdaspeed probably will not show up until the end of the model run just like it did for the Protege, Miata, 6, and 3.

+1

but i think that's an error...

mazda MUST made sports version ALWAYS...it boost the normal version's sales.

Mazda has practically always made prototypes and such of sport versions.

I mean for example, look at the 99 mazdaspeed protege... it was supposed to be AWD and v6.

and take a look at japan, they already have a mazdaspeed version of the mp5. Which is actually pretty sick looking.

I just really hope they decide to go v6 on the new mazdaspeed6 (bowdown)

U.S.-spec Mazda6 range, pricing and features revealed

The U.S. version of Mazdas new Mazda6 sedan has been known for some time to be a bigger, more brawny version of its international doppelganger, but exactly what that meant was unknown. Thanks to a new internet leak, we have the details.

A Mazda-issued survey taken by a forum denizen at the ********** revealed all the juicy details of Mazdas upgraded 6.

Engine options range from a 170hp four-cylinder in the base i models up to a 272hp 3.7L V6 in the s range of packages. Depending on the trim options, the i range is priced from $19,850 to $25,850, while the V6-equipped s range starts at $25,150 and goes on up to $29,150.

Both i and s ranges feature base, touring and grand touring trim levels. The base i is equipped with a solid complement of features, however, despite starting under $20,000. The full slate of safety equipment - ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution and tire pressure monitoring system, along with dynamic stability control and traction control, are standard.

Air conditioning, a SIRIUS-compatible MP3 capable radio system and power locks, windows and keyless entry are also standard. Corners are cut on the 16-inch wheels with seven-spoke plastic covers and a limited slate of options: only moonroof and navigation can be added, aside from choosing the color and leather or cloth fabric for the interior.

Stepping up the ladder adds such niceties as alloy wheels, trip computer, anti-theft system and push-button ignition. The grand touring features Xenon headlights, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, blind-spot monitoring and Bluetooth hands-free phone integration.

The s models add to the i trim features with more leather, larger 18-inch alloy wheels, more performance options like dual-exhaust outlets and performance steering wheel and shift knobs.

Mazda recently sent out a survey request to potential customers, the purpose of which was to allow these survey takers to build a 2009 Mazda6 with whatever options, packages and colors they wanted so that the automaker could gauge which will be most popular when the car goes on sale. Unfortunately, Mazda was smart and the survey can only be taken once, but one person recorded all the information he saw and posted it on the *************** forum. His notes after the jump give us an idea of what trim levels, options and pricing will be available when the car does go on sale, though none of it is written in stone.

It appears that the 2009 Mazda6 will be available in two basic versions: the Mazda6 i that comes with a 170-hp 2.5L four-cylinder with VVT and the more powerful Mazda6 s that's motivated by a 272-hp 3.7L V6. The Mazda6 i will be offered in SV, Sport, Touring and Grand Touring models, while the Mazda6 s will be available as Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. As far as pricing goes, the Mazda6 i SV kicks things off with a base price of $19,850 while the Mazda6 s Grand Touring tops the range with a base price of $29,150. That's quite a large range that should satisfy the wants and needs of most buyers, and features like Xenon headlamps, Bluetooth, a Blind Spot Monitoring system, rain-sensing wipers and wheels up to 18-inches in diameter should position the new Zoom-Zoom sedan well against its mid-size family sedan competition.

Euro and JDM models are the same weight as previous gen.

Yes.
but for me a Mazda called "mazdaspeed" or "Mazda Performance Series" must run against "STI" badge, or "EVO" badge or an Audi S3...

The problem is that they're different segments. Mazdaspeed6/Mazda 6 MPS is a touring car. Evos and STI's (other than the Legacy) are in a completely different segment.

Personally, I think the Mazdaspeed/MPS version occupies a good niche below the Audi/BMW performance cars.

PS. It's funny how saying the name of the site that broke the news is akin to saying the name of "You-Know-Who" or "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" in Harry Potter.

Power for the 2009 Mazda6 will be available from an all-new Mazda-designed and developed MZR 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a 3.7-liter V6 as used in the 2008 CX-9, Motor Trend's 2008 Sport/Utility of the Year and the 2008 North American Truck of the Year. Transmission choices are a six-speed manual or five-speed Sport AT automatic with manual-shift mode (2.5-liter engine), or a six-speed Sport AT automatic with manual-shift mode (3.7-liter V6).

The 2009 Mazda6 will be available only as a four-door sedan. Both the I4 and V6 will be available in GS or GT trim grades, with varying levels of standard and optional equipment.

That makes very little sense, considering the UK site shows the sedan, the hatch, AND the wagon on the page....

Canada is getting the North American version of the car, which is only a 4 door. Makes sense to me(shrug)

How does that make sense to you? He said it will only be available as a 4 door (fyi Canada = part of the Americas). When clearly they already have hatch and wagon models available, so the car isn't available as a 4 door. They're only allowing us to have the 4 door..... for now.

In the UK, they get the same version as Japan and the rest of the world--not the same model as we get in North America. Canada and the US get a larger, sedan-only model, while the rest of the world gets a smaller version with hatch and wagon variants.

I would rather have more variants than more room. I'm 6'1 - 6'2 and 230... my GF's '03 hatch has plenty of room for me.

I already know they're gonna come out with a hatch version, It would just be nice if it was now, cause she wants to trade in her v6 03 for a v6 09 (2thumbs) She wants to keep up with my car, lol. (ughdance)
