Official 2009 USDM Mazda6 thread

Although the general look is the same for both cars, the U.S Mazda 6 gets a new steering wheel and revised switches. Phone, mode, volume and an up/down toggle switch are on the left, and cruise control is on the right.

Same as the USDM Mazda3 and Mazda5. Interior changes are OK, my worries are still on the exterior :D

i also with everyone else...im not interested in the current version over the euro version...hope its not going to be final....i was going to probably get one but if the new style sticks im out...

Damn EDM gets the best stuff

+1

I think the extra $$ paid and the stiff competition makes Mazda do that. Just checking the cheapest trims:

New Mazda6 4door, 1.8 120cv Active (Spain): Euros22,500 -> USD$34,672
New Mazda6 4door, 2.0 TS (UK): Pounds16,630 -> USD$33,491

It is not an apples to apples comparison of course (i.e. taxes, duties), but there should be some extra bucks somewhere in the EDMs' price to add some cool stuff (cryhard)

I passed one of these on my way to work this morning. It was silver, not sure what else, but looked similar in body to the red one in the pics. From what I could see of front and rear I actually liked it. Much more aggressive than the pictures make it seem.

The annual dealer meetings started in Colorado today. The new 6 is being unveiled at these meetings. We should have specs in the next day or two.

Two pretty unfortunate looking views. I'm hoping that the car isn't actually as awkward as it looks in the two angles that we've seen.

The one I saw last week in passing looked better than those pics led me on to believe. I'm reserving my final judgment for when I get to see it in person and drive it.

I suspect it will look better in person. I'm more worried about specs than looks at this point. HP ratings, will it have direct injection, and will they offer AWD? I suspect there will be some photos available soon as well. I:m sure someone who is there will snap some pics with the camera phone and have them online in short order.

The rumor I heard is that we'll get a 6-speed manual and 6-speed auto, and the V6 will be in the 270-280hp range. It's gonna have some new toys on it too, not exactly sure what, but I believe the BSMS (blind spot monitoring system) and bluetooth are possible.

I'm not too concerned with specs, considering the 220 hp V6 I have now has more power than I really need. Not that I'm in the market for a new car anyway.

Yeah, supposed to ba a 3.7L V6 with 278 HP and 263 TQ. We know the 4 cyl is a 2.5L, but HP rumor are anywhere from 166 on the low end all the way upto a direct injected 200 HP version. It will just be nice to have some definate specs. Normally my contacts at Mazda Canada would have already provided me with this info months ago, but everything has been VERY top secret this time around. Either way it will probably need to be offered with AWD to end up in my garage.

ok, IMO the fronts are NOT that much different, look the eruo spec has an extra lip on the front, with different style grilles and fog lights moved to the center. the headlight housing are ALMOST the same if not, just different projectors, look where the headlight ends in the fender on both models and they both are about the same spot, and they each have the same distance between the grille and headlights as well. the red one i just don't think i the sportiest version we will see here in America.. the main difference in lines i see is the hood.

I think that makes all the difference. The bottom pic is a sexy machine that deserves to be hugged caressed, and then ridden like a wild beast.

The top one is butterface that once sober, I would not call back.

but what i'm getting at is i think the US verision will probably have a better, sportier looking verision

Not to mention that the US spy pick is distorted and out of proportion. When stretched out to the proper proportion that US model will look better and there no doubt will be a sportier package like the GFX package on the current model.

Well I just got back to work from lunch, and on my way back I passed at least 4 new model 6's, black, dark blue, white, and titanium gray. Each had minimal tape, mostly around the front and rear lamps, but again, the colors all looked good.

I'm gonna bring my camera to work with me tomorrow and see what I can spot.
