...now, this guy at work buys a WRX....

Do I think the WRX is better, even considering the higher price? No. Personally; I feel Mazda is better quality

Uhhh, no, the WRX is a much better car than the MSP. It doesn't even compare. First the boxer engine is a much better motor. Yes the MSP handles better off the lot, but the WRX can do just as good or better with a new suspension. Oh yeah, and the WRX's motor can be modded to get up to around 400 to 500hp, the FS motor can not. End of competition.

Well, for an additional $5,000, yep! The WRX rocks! But for my money, the MSP is the hot ticket. I'm not into a lot of mods. I'm not a street racer, but I do plan on attending a driving school a friend of my teaches at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Like I previously mentioned, I think most of the Japanese car makers build good cars, It's a matter of choice, and what one's needs are. Just my opinion.

For my $20,500, I know no other car could make me grin the way my Black Mica MAZDASPEED does.

I think I will try to get one of those K&N drop in filter elements for starters, then see what MAZDASPEED is going to offer.

Cheers!

I think AGR#7 is right: the MSP does beat the WRX. I drove the WRX and it does have the power, and you get even more with aftermarket mods. But it is 3100 lbs, so it's just not going to handle like the MSP will. The 4 wheel drive is nice if you live in the snow belt and need it half the year. But that's what's adding all that weight.

And now with the SRT-4, the WRX is going to have to peddle hard to keep up in a straight line. If you take the dyno numbers from the SRT-4 and divide by 0.85 for driveline losses, the car comes in at 260 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque! Pretty good.

But I think the SRT-4 styling is lousy and it's made in Mexico. Wonder how long the warranty is good for???

You just remove the boost controller then the WRX hauls ASS with a free mod.

SRT4 is actually completely made in the US.

The WRX is a sweet car for sure, but in it's price range it offers AWD. The STI that will be here soon is way nicer. Subaru had to come out with the STI as the WRX was set to be run over by the next bunch of cars coming out this year.

i dont know if im bitter......but so what if i am. beer is bitter, everyone likes beer.

Like beer? I love beer, and I brew beer. My brewery is actually in my garage, and both Mazdas fit perfect. When I brew, I back the cars out. I keg and I bottle, and I brew mostly BIG beers - higher alcohol, but with my system I am capable of brewing any style. Typically, I brew Ales. I can brew 5 or 10 gallons at a time - no problem. I would venture to guess, I have the only brewery in the little 'burg', Oakland, TN where I reside.
