newbie intro...

hmm...figure I introduce myself in a post..tho I already posted in the age/occupation thread. Freddy's the name. I just moved to a new state and needed a car. HONDA, HONDA, HONDA was what was on my mind. So i goto the dealership(mazda) and the 1st thing that caught my eye was this clean shiny black protege ['02]. I've always liked the shape of the newer proteges cuz it always reminded me of a scooby's shape. But I more/less ingnored it. So I test drove a few integras, civics and accords on the lot. Something didnt fit right about the cars. They have boring interiors...all my friends have them, and there are too many on the road. So i decided to give the pro a try...and the rest is history...its automatic..but im not to concerned about that. But yea, I hope to get kno more about my car from you guys and thats it.

haha....funny...I purchased the car on friday...but I was unable to drive it due to insurance issues...I just picked up the car today and decided to take it around the island. Stop by walmart to pick up a CD (The Very Best of Marvin Gaye) to bump in the car. Come out to find that my CD player doesnt work. I'm mad now. I got home just to see if it was just a fluke with CD itself and tried my CD's at home...Same situation...(btw...it is the stock radio in the car) I would not have cared if the engine decided to fall out the bottom of my car...I know too many lawyers that can get me rich anytime i want...but my CD player not working....that takes the cake right there. Sigh...well I guess thats a new project for me..installin the sounds. I'm guessin this is good cuz if nuthing was wrong, I wouldnt have even bothered with messin with them....well....maybe I would have...this just hastens the project...lol..right on...I'll shall post pics of the clean stock beauty in the future....

<- Newbie here as well. I'm out of Hillsboro, Oregon, about 20 miles west of Portland. Picked up a '00 Protege as my first car. I've been kind of down on it but now I want to learn more about it and see what I can do with it if I drop a few bucks on it.

And I know jack s**t about tuning, but hey, anytime's a good time to start, right? It would be nice to have a good joyride without having to take my mom's 350Z out for nighttime expeditions.

Whats up Freddy. Welcome to the boards. Mazda was my last choice, but Im glad that I ended up buying one. I was in toss up between the Protege I have now (00 DX sedan) and a 01 Mitsubishi Mirage coupe. I went to the dealership (Mitsubishi) to test drive the Mirage and I couldn't even get the car off the lot. The battery was dead and the people couldn't even get the car jumpstarted with a new battery they had stored inside the dealership. Needless to say, that totally turned me towards the Protege and I ended up buying the car that day. Been happy with my purchase ever since!!
