NEW PARTS-Valves& Springs

So any updates (pricing, oversized valves, plans for retainers, etc.)?

Dave

Sorry Guys I'm still waiting for final pricing.

Regarding the specs on the springs I posted them a while back.

Regarding the Valves, the intakes will be exactly the same as stock except the head diameter will be .5 mm larger to get the head out to the "meatier" part of the seat. The exhaust will have the same head enlargement but the stem is slightly thicker to help take the abuse of a turbo motor (and still will work fine for NA too!). The material will be the severe duty stainless. Of course they will have the flow improvements too.

Any other questions.....fire away!!!!

any prices yet??? Do you have part #s for anything yet? Especially the manley valves? Im needing them asap!!!

Sorry, the valves and springs will not be available until we at least have dyno tested them. This looks like it will occur in March. Sorry for the delay. I just can't put parts out there that we haven't tested ourselves. Might be abit of overkill but it's the way we operate. :)

As far as pricing, I'm still waiting since these parts are so new. That doesn't mean they will be outrageously expensive. Just trying to work as best a deal as I can!!!

Let me know if I can help otherwise....

so im guessing it would be adventageous to change out the stock valves/springs/retainers/guides for aftermarket ones even if we dont port the head?

Yes, even without porting the head there are advantages to upgrading the valves and springs. I went over these in an earlier post to this thread....

Regarding the retainers, unless you are going to titanium the stock look like they should work just fine. We will know shortly. As for the guides, since these motors are so new we have not yet seen a need for new guides to be installed. Of course, bronze guides will be the way to go once you need them. They are fairly easy to get.

Hope this helps....

March, sounds about a great time, can't wait. I'll be putting on my new head about that time, anyhow. Now if only I could find cams.

Hey everyone,

All of us at Doc B Racing have been working hard on the motor and chasssis build of the Mazdaspeed Protege Gran-Am Cup race car. We have developed several new parts for the motor. One of the first we think we will have available for sale will be the upgraded valve train components. Anyone who has forced induction will benefit from better valve springs to keep the valve open in the face of the increased cylinder pressures. Also the upgraded stainless steel valves will withstand the higher cylinder temperatures seen in turbo charged engines.

I wanted to guage the interest of these parts. The valve springs are a special set we have developed with Eibach. (Yes the same eibach that makes the world renowned suspension springs). The valves are from another well known manufacturer, Manley. I should have pricing on the kit in the next few days.

We will have other components available once we have tested them to our satisfaction.

How 'bout cams?

they aren't gonan do cams as their race car is not allowed to have them, so we will have to look elsewhere =)

custom is our only option looking forward. it's too small of a market for cam companies to spend time and money designing profiles for our engine....that's why i have customs

Equinox is correct in that currently we are not allowed to run other than stock cams. However, depending on need (ie competitiveness of the current setup) we may be given them in the future.

I can say that cams are something we have discussed but with the number of current new parts we are developing it is a ways off. If you need something immediately PM me and I may be able to give you some options.....

Thanks,
Tom

I saw the springs have .450" max lift, have you guys measured the max lift before valve/piston interference?

Bump for updates! :D
