New CM clutch already fried?

but from the symptoms I've described could there be something wrong witht he tranny or flywheel?

No... it won't be the tranny... and I don't get what is up with the flywheel... I think the clutch got eaten up by the flywheel and it is just simply giving up all the way...

Update:

Clutch blew out on me today driving home on the freeway. Had to push the car UP a freeway offramp during rush hour in 105 degree's.... Possibly blew out the rivets aand ate up the flywheel in the process... Had to get the car towed to SRD for the new clutch install.

I thank Beau for bein there for me and delivering the clutch tonight. Unfortuantely I'm waiting on some other parts to come in before the install can happen.

Right now I'm really pissed at this clutch. CM stage II-R.... POS as far as I'm concerned. :(

Sorry to hear that man! I hope the damage is minimal and you can get back up and running in short order!!!

Best of luck :)

Damn that sucks dude!!! I know how it is to drop a clutch and have to push the damn thing up hill by yourself. That happened to me back when I had my first car, you have to get enough speed pushing it to get up the hill, MAN that sucks!!!! Good luck, you won't have anymore issues once the Spec is in!(thumb)

Thanks guys,

Yeah now looking back on it, it sucked pretty bad. Only a few people honking and flipping me off. But there were a few cute girls who waived (as if that made the situation any better) andnumberous cops stopped by to make sure everything was ok- and they were all cool (suprisingly).

I'm just hoping three things:

A) The flywheel wasn't eaten to shreads when the clutch fell apart.
B) My car wasn't broken into last night left outside the shop.
C) Those parts come in!!!!! I'm waiting on stuff from JonBoy and then an insert from Fidanza.

(confused)

:( It's bad bro.. It went WAYYY faster than I thought it would. The drive TO work yesterday was really bad and I had a feeling getting home would be something I'd have to pull out of my ass. I couldn't even start to accelerate unless I launched at like 6K and then it was pure slippage every gear after that- could get above 50 MPH so I started to exit then I felt eh vibration of the clutch going out (exploding!) lol... No really it's not funny- this could be bad news for the flywheel.

Then after that nothing in first gear at all no matter what I did- the clutch more than likely isn't in-tact anymore.

So watch out it may come when you don't expect it.

I also have the CM clutch stage IIR. Mine feels ok it has only been about 4,000 miles since FI. Now I am worried. I also purchased mine with a Fidzana Flywheel from rr-racing.com. We should protest this garbage. I think the stock clutch would hold for longer. We should e-mail rafi!

I have emailed Rafi- and he says he's never heard of it going out that fast.... But I'm not sure they have ever had it on boosted rides... Me and YP5 have about the same miles on our clutches and same outcome.

My stock clutch lasted for 11K miles after boost as well. Kinda funny- the stock clutch almost outlasting the "high performance" clutch.

there is no warrany available or what! What is Rafi going to do to make this up to you? I mean there clutch is claimed to handle like 260whp or something (not exact). It doesnt say it will handle this much hp for 15,000 miles. That is pure crap. Rafi should make this up to people, otherwise no one should purchase CM perod! I am now extremely worried about my clutch lasting. $300 and something dollars for this stage IIR clutch and not to mention the install labor for what 15,000 miles tops. THAT IS TOTAL bulls***!

no doubt, there was nothing he said he could do for me... and on top of that I had to purchase a new flywheel insert from him for this next install- no price break at all.

Wow, what a nice guy. he sells you and others crap and won't do anything about it. Well I certainly know one place I won't buy anything from again. Thanks for the info.

SPec or ACT. My ACT has stood the test of time on my car. Over 2 years of 100 miles round trip to work, 4 days a week. Also over 40,000 miles of being boosted!

wierd. i have had about 11K miles boost on my msp (18psi none the less) on the stage IIR CM clutch with no problems at all.

Guys, it is something with the flywheel. I have pushed my car way harder then most here and the clutch is still great. I have the stock flywheel. Did i mention 55 1/4 mile launches, 8 dyno pulls, and tons of daily boost runs, lol?

i will still go with the spec stage III hybrid later on, but only when my ish starts slipping.

well, how long has anyone really put on a spec clutch and fidanza flywheel yet?

Bigg Timm are you running the fidanza?

Linux has only had a few miles on his new clutch etc. Also, kooldino has only had a few K miles as well.

Lets just wait and see what time will tell.

Then again it could be something specific to the CM clutch mated to the fidanza flywheel that causes the problems too. (ie friction material etc).

The Fidanza uses steel plates like any other flywheel, I don't see why it would be the problem...??

I'm betting the clutch gave up the ghost.
