Oil level

Checked the oil and it was at the minimum mark. Assumed that meant 1 qt low. Apparently not as I am now overfilled. What problems am I causing? Being in the middle of the service interval I think I’ll drain and refill but not change the filter until the planned interval, about another 2k.

Oil level slightly over the maximum mark probably wouldn’t hurt anything. Oil level well above that mark could cause a problem.
Nothing wrong with draining some/all of the oil out and refilling to the proper level. If you change your own oil, you could just do a full oil service. If not, I see nothing wrong with leaving the filter alone until the next scheduled service.
